Museum Receives Honor for Achievement in Historic and Cultural Preservation! The Sedona Historical Society and its Sedona Heritage Museum were honored on June 3, 2011 by the National Park Service for their excellence and achievement in historic and cultural preservation.
Tuzigoot National Monument Park Superintendent Kathy M. Davis made the presentation during the grand re-opening ceremony for Tuzigoot Museum at the Monument. The award was given with special recognition to long-time Society member and Historian, Mr. Sherman Loy and with special mention of Jim Eaton, Donna Pratt and Mary Smith Wyatt, all four of whom have worked for more than 20 years toward furthering the Society’s mission of research, preservation and education about local history.
The Society, Museum and many of its volunteers have received numerous awards in the past, but this award was especially meaningful because it was accepted in honor of Mr. Loy who recently passed away. Thank you. Janeen Trevillyan Sedona AZ
