The League of Women Voters, who have extensive experience in this area, will be having a Fire District Board and Candidate Forum on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Jewish Community Center of Sedona and the Verde Valley. This venue is located in the Chapel area on SR 179, so should be convenient for residents of Big Park to attend. I don’t have any
information about submitting questions for the candidates ahead of time, but would recommend that those who would like to do so, look for more information in the Red Rock News. Please share this information with friends and neighbors.

What about Nazih Hazime?

Here is a man who, in this economy, ‘resigned’ 1 yr 9 mos. into his contract with Sedona Fire District last April. He now sits as Fire Chief for Verde Valley Fire, he has committed himself to all the meetings and duties that coincide with that position (including board meetings for Verde Valley Fire) and he wants to ADD Sedona Fire District executive and board meetings to his plate? How many meetings can one person competently participate in? With all of those meetings, where is there time left to work?

At what point are VVFD tax payers going to be paying for Nazih Hazime to work on SFD Board Meeting agendas and material? Or at what point does the Sedona public not get the needed attention of Hazime at, or for, the SFD Board and Executive Meetings as a result of his responsibilities for Verde Valley Fire District?

What is the motivation of Hazime, who resigned his Fire Chief position, to sit on the SFD Fire Board and oversee the new Chief who now sits in Hazime’s former position?

Resale of the ladder truck? Are you serious? Or are you unable to accept that your idea about the truck is wrong? Please look up the word “pedantic”. You are pedantic.

It is difficult at best to abide the continued referencing of false numbers, demented sequential logic, unrelenting arguing that brings little or nothing to the table when discussing the fire district. It is obvious now that the three board members up for recall should be recalled, irrefutable based on the evidence before us, the electorate. Unworthy to serve the fire district because they are narrow minded and unwilling to act without bias on their own behalf and the tipping point was reached when the audit was negotiated and allowed to go forward. The result of that audit (and Red Rock News should be ashamed of Whitehurst and Trista’s less than insightful “editorials” and reportage which by any other name they are acting as spin doctors for other agencies). I’m not on the board, don’t want to be. I’m just tired of my taxes going up, tired of a 10.4% sales tax, tired of the highest paid people in Sedona earning gold plated wages on OUR tax dollars. MY pension has not gone up in 3 years, my house is worth 1/2 what it was, and they want MORE tax revenue from me.

And you know what, I’m a lucky one. I’m not looking for a job, and getting offers of $9-10 per hour. Tax money comes out of REAL peoples pockets.

Power drunks. We should have learned our lesson after the Las Vegas incident with one of them. The only wrongful users of our dollars are sitting on the board and deserve to be recalled. And I’m guessing that Glen and Tony are board members trying to keep jobs. Read and understand your audit.

And as for this ladder truck – it’s done and it’s here and it’s a dumb reference in the present. What has it got to do with the here and now or in the time that the three were elected to the board? Heaven help us if they try and answer this question because it won’t be logical but will be a ramble.
