Our brother, Fire Marshall David Wharton passed away today at approximately 1400 after a courageous battle with cancer. Prayers and thoughts to his family that was by his side in his last moments. Services will be planned and posted in the near future! We will miss you Dave and your presence in the house

I would like to invite you all to attend this year’s event on July 27, from 5:00 till 9:00, at the Food City parking lot in Cottonwood.

Food will be served from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. and a $5.00 donation is requested. Many food establishments in the Valley, including the Manzanita Restaurant, Vinnie’s Pizza, Verde Lea Market and Food City, will be providing food for the meal.

There will be a raffle and silent auction at the event, with gift certificates from Windmill Gardens, Harry’s Hideaway, Quince Restaurant, Enchantment Resort and Mountain Hair, to name a few. There will also be art work from local artists Anne Bassett, Rex Peters, Christopher Mull, Diane Geoghegan and Donna Chesler. Also, there will be jewelry, collectibles and many other items of interest in the raffle and auction.

The main entertainment will be provided by the Cornville Switchbacks, and information tables will be situated around the event site with information regarding cancer and related issues.

Also, T-shirts commemorating this event are available for sale at Food City, Gisele’s Café and Bakery in Jerome, and at the fire stations in Clarkdale, Cottonwood and Montezuma-Rimrock. The cost is $15 for S-XL sized T-shirts, and $20 for 2XL and larger T-shirts.

With the money that was raised over the last two years (over $9,000) we have been able to provide funds of up to $1,000 each to four cancer patients. We are in the process of assisting a fifth person, and another application has just gone out.
