When is self-promotion a term used for someone who is educating the public about how a tax funded job works? This fellow was recruited to do a job and he’s trying to do it. You want to know what’s going on and what’s happening and what the fuss is all about with the fire board election but then shoot the messengers? What’s wrong with the people in this city?

Warren, I think that the Chief needs to bring to the attention of the public things that otherwise would never come to light. Unfortunately, our community knows very little about the positive things happening in our Fire District. They know even less about what the functions of the board are in relation to the duties and responsibilities of the Fire Chief. I have attended too many board meetings where certain board members were under the assumption that they were elected to run fire district operations. As taxpayers in this district, why would we want civilians telling professional staff how to do their jobs? I think that it’s an excellent idea that as a new board gets seated this month they are clear about the Fire Board/Chief Relationship.

It’s high time that the entire SFD board and staff work harmoniously TOGETHER towards a common goal: to benefit ALL of the taxpayers within our district.

I wish the Board and the Chief success in achieving that goal. I know that it will not be easy, but it needs to happen!
