For the 16th straight year, Pinal County’s Finance Department has been nationally recognized for its work in financial reporting.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has once again bestowed Pinal County with a prestigious Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting. The honor is for the work accomplished on the county’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2011.

An electronic version of the report is posted on the county’s website at:

http://pinalcountyaz.gov/Departments/Finance/Documents/CAFR/CAFR2011.pdf

For the comprehensive financial report to be recognized, it must be easily readable, efficiently organized, satisfy generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.

Still looking for help with outdoor fun for the "Sedona Cares" fundraiser. (Tuesday, June 19th 9am-6pm at VOC Outlet Mall) I need someone to honcho up supervision for our 2 "Jolly Jumpers" and I could use a few more carnival-type game booths. I have some games that are ready and just need a group to run them. Call me, Dana De Luz at 862-0118.

Also, face painters and a balloon artist are needed. Thanks!

Did anyone happen to notice the nature of the business discussed during the last City Council Meeting on May 22, Agenda Item #13, "Executive Session" for legal advice and to consider its position and instruct its attorneys regarding the City's position on pending claims to wit:

Potential claims against the City by CPC Incorporated related to the Harmony Windsong Drainage Project.

A claim by Anne Marie Hunter and Jac Robson dba The Hummingbird House related to flood damage.

Hmm . . . might this be one reason the city is finally acknowledging, although to only a minimal degree, that Sedona does, indeed, have a drainage problem?

But, isn't it somewhat pathetic that Jennifer Wesselhoff is graciously allowed five minutes to plead HER case for an extra $100,000, over and above the $500,000 already assured to HER Chamber of Commerce, and people who have had property flood damage on at least two occasions, clearly created by city neglect, are forced to hire attorneys to even be heard? What's wrong with this scenario?

Albeit this $100,000 is allegedly to benefit the "new council" to ascertain its best use for "Destination Marketing" it still flies under the flag of a member driven organization, that being the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, and not the community and businesses at large. Is this yet another example of greed excelling over need?

Heads up those of you paying monthly sewer fees. Looks like a sock it to you continuation of the same old story.

FLORENCE – The Pinal County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting today to discuss and vote on the tentative budget for the 2012-2013 Fiscal Year.

The meeting will take place at 9:30 am inside the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room located in Administration Building A in Florence.

The tentative budget was not acted upon in the Wednesday board meeting because numbers had to be recalculated after a motion was made regarding the size of a proposed tax decrease. The Pinal County tentative budget was $334,515,835. The new total being discussed on Friday is $336,572,544.
