The city will remain on virtual city hall services until May 18, 2020.

Here is the press release on Governor Ducey’s extension of stay-at-home orders. Additionally in the order he said businesses that sell retail goods (that are non essential) may begin a phased reopening beginning May 4th.

The Executive Order said the intent of the order was to: “ensure that people maintain physical distance to the maximum extent feasible, while enabling essential services to continue, reinvigorating our economy, protecting people’s rights and slowing the spread of COVID-19 to the greatest extent possible. When people need to leave their places of residence, whether to perform essential activities, or to otherwise facilitate authorized activities necessary for continuity of social and commercial life, they should at all times and as much as reasonably possible comply with physical distancing recommendations.”

Because of this order, City Hall will continue to remain closed to in-person business and services until May 18th.

Friends: During this difficult time, crime did not cease. In fact, domestic violence, rage and drug use have been increasing in our community. Our brave local police officers and sheriff’s deputies have been walking into dangerous situations to keep the rest of us safe; let’s thank them for their bravery during this crisis. Come out and help us do just that; we appreciate your participation:

McDonald’s franchisees in Sedona, Camp Verde and Cottonwood have offered a limited-menu “thank you” breakfast (or lunch) to our law enforcement officers at no cost. We are partnering with McDonalds in all three Verde Valley McDonalds locations to raise enough money between now and Monday afternoon, May 4, to match McDonald’s kind “thank you” meals and treat our officers to a second breakfast (or lunch) specifically on “Two-Fer Tuesday”, May 5th.

The officers can keep the second meal (our treat) for dinner -or- use the second meal to treat a stressed spouse, please a restless child, or encourage an unemployed friend who needs some comfort.

We will be collecting cash donations at these locations starting tomorrow:

Friday, May 1, from 8 AM to 5:30 PM at Cleaner Quicker Car Wash, 1515 West State Road 89 A, Sedona -and- 10 AM to 4 PM, Camp Verde Marshal’s office, 646 South 1st Street, Camp Verde.

Saturday, May 2: from 8 AM to 5:30 PM at Cleaner, Quicker Car Wash, 1515 West State Road 89 A, Sedona -and- 10 AM to 4 PM, Cottonwood Police Station, 199 South 6th Street, Cottonwood

Monday, May 4th: from 8 AM to 5:30 PM, Cleaner, Quicker Car Wash, 1515 West State Road 89 A, Sedona

Since Camp Verde and Cottonwood locations are a farther drive, come to either of those locations and get treats! See pictures (cool bumper stickers for your car or your home window -or- a Trump “acquitted” pen). More treats are being considered. All treats will be offered while supplies last.

How come city workers aren’t being furloughed along with the supposedly 10,000 workers in the tourist industry in Sedona?

Why are they not being forced to take their vacation and leave?

I relinquish any claim on the lives of the young. As an oldster who is presumed to be peculiarly susceptible to the ravages of COVID-19, I will not ask anyone to sacrifice days, weeks or months of their time, love, life, and livelihood on my behalf. It is grotesque for the old to ask the young to sacrifice for them. Go. Live your lives. Enjoy the beautiful spring weather. I have no claim on you for my welfare.

Free men accept that life entails risk.
They don’t ask their “leaders” to “protect” them.
When “leaders” tyrannize them “for your own good,” they rise up.
Such “leaders” become lamppost decorations, pour encourager les autres.

You’ll notice these people defend the chamber and the city never respond to facts, they just try to attack the messenger. A sign their actions are indefensible.
