Scott, what proof do you have that all candidates are registered Democrats? I would suspect no proof is your answer because all of them are NOT registered as you claim. If in your mind and opinion that is your "guess" is one thing. But spreading false information is only a bad reflection on those doing the smearing. In this case a person allegedly with the name "Scott." Of course, your tactic may very well have been to provoke candidates to protest to your false statement. Thank goodness all of them were smart enough to avoid biting the bait you threw out.

Why are political signs bad you ask?

If a political sign is put up in front of your neighbors house, it's intended to mean that your neighbor (s) like or support that persons platform and want to convey that message to others.

If a political sign is sitting along a road, it just shows a name with no message other than that. After a while, people will get tired of just seeing that name with no message.

I sort of agree with you that signs will show that we believe in democracy but, do you really think that those 3.5 million tourists give a darn about your political views? They just want to come to Sedona to relax and enjoy life away from where ever they came from.

@Kathy.

Out of 10,000 residents maybe a third will vote. I'm being generous.

So..........no sight blight, saves major costs for printing, installation and removal.

People will have to make up their own mind instead of voting for someone because a sign is in the yard of someone they admire.

This saves the rest of us from marred views of our lovely red rocks.

Finally, sadly, nothing is going to change once any of them are elected.

Why are temporary political signs bad? It says our city believes in democracy and people are involved. A good message to me. It would appear so.

So, if Rio were to install a sign on his store fence, I would say that he's not the least bit concerned about: 1- keeping our tourist areas sign free and looking their best and 2- working well with others.
One would question his concern about "keeping Sedona Beautiful" in other aspects should he be elected.

Perhaps he should follow the other's and just keep his signs in front of his supporters houses and away from the tourists view.

As for Mr. Frey, is he really running? After all, I remember way back when he was on the council, his last official act was to cut the new comers pay. Sounds like a sore looser back then. Does anyone think that he's grown up enough to play with the big boys (and girls) again?

Yes, yes! Not only does your comment provide a chuckle but lends gratitude to ADOT and their policy of "no signs in their right of way." Can you imagine what Sedona would be like if both State Routes were owned by the City? OMG, signs, signs, signs everywhere would be the new "code." On the other hand, it would give new meaning to Keep Sedona Beautiful. Their purpose might be restored since they seem to be failing on issues like this asinine proposed "Western Gateway" as an example. So Mr. Candidate on SR 179, keep your signs among your chimineas!

Don't usually comment but will today.

I think this is silly letter and a silly statement of intent.

More Sheeple to vote for all herding together to pat themselves on the back for eco-signage. Keep me laughing knowing that you all think alike.

You're worried about what we SEE now? You're regulating THAT?

Count me voting for the contrarians because they are. We need free thinkers. Tired of all the self congratulatory but not smart Sheeples.
