Major work continues this week during late-night hours on the climbing lane on Interstate 17 south of Camp Verde, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Each night, starting tonight through Thursday, January 23, the I-17 will be closed in both directions from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., 1 to 2 a.m. and again from 2:30 to 3:30 a.m. as blasting continues along the interstate.

ADOT urges drivers to adjust their travel schedules or allow extra travel time to reach their destinations.

In addition to the full closures, I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions through the work zone from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.

To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state at any time, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511.

Lane restrictions on AZ I-17 this week for guardrail repair - Northbound restrictions between Black Canyon City and Cordes start today

The Arizona Department of Transportation will repair guardrail on northbound Interstate 17 from mileposts 245 to 262, from Black Canyon City to Cordes Junction, until 5 p.m. on Jan. 13 and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The work will require alternating lane restrictions during work hours to provide a safe work zone for maintenance crews.

The speed limit through the work zones will be reduced to 45 mph during work hours. Minimal delays are expected, however ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

For more information, email projects@azdot.gov or call the ADOT Project Hotline at 1.855.712.8530. To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state at any time, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov and follow the www.SedonaEye.com.
