Here's an example of good journalism: I'm using it in my classroom this month for a project.

Sedona Times Editorial Staff examines NSA votes by Party:

(418 recorded votes-279 Yes or Not Against required for passage)

Key Votes:
HR 4823

Date: 09/23/2010
Sponsor: Rep. Kirkpatrick, Ann (D-AZ)
Roll no. 538

Bill Failed
(House)
How members voted
(258 – 160)

Been reading with interest the comments and fingers all pointing; decided to browse the library shelves here and when I came across this, I puffed up with approval that this media listened and worked overtime. Not action to prove a negative but action to provide knowledge. Kirkpatrick's staff should have vetted her talking points to be factual instead of political, that's their job, hers in politics. Accountability matters. Shouldn't take the media to remind us, that's our job, theirs is news. Bipartisan politics will be this country's saving grace, not polarization of radical left and right extremes. Register to vote and then become an informed voter. See you at the ballot box!

This was good reporting. Looking behind politicians headlines and hot button issue rhetoric are thankless jobs. I'm impressed. Democrats, Republicans and Independents pay attention--you've got yourselves a FREE press. NEW it is and NEWS it is. Sedona has a winner here. Keep up the good work.

It is a shame that this did not pass, however based on the health care vote, the stimulus, the bail outs and the other billions that have run up the debt, it is no wonder that since Kirkpatrick voted for ALL of these huge spending bills, which have not worked, that the other party did not go along with her program. If you want a NSA designation put a Republican in her place on November 2nd as they will control the house. That is the best chance to get it done.

The Federal Gov already controls/owns 97% of all US territory.. Why allow the Federal bureaucracies to control OUR lands here in Arizona. Liberals simply don't understand that the ORIGINAL intent of our foundation was LOCAL control of our lands and lives. Wake up!
