Now I know how a popsicle must feel.

When I see people letting man’s best friend licking their face, I just shake my head.

I love most dogs but don’t want to be their popsicle.

I guess our best bet is EDUCATION. That’s how I got so smart. If we catch them on a walk, we can politely offer them a pick-up bag and let them know that they could be contaminating the ground and water with E-Coli bacteria.

As far as those holy “smokes” go. Cigarette butts are really quite TOXIC and pose a threat to animals who might mistake them for marshmellowy goodies. Butts gum up the waterways with nicotine and heavy metals like benzene and other carcinogens. No wonder so many ducks and geese seem cranky.

Don’t forget that tossing butts is one of the biggest causes of FOREST FIRES which could threaten our homes and our lives. I don’t want to lose any of my favorite trees either. Bet you feel the same way I do, don’t you Harley? My Motto: Don’t litter your butts cuz they cause serious environmental damage.

Now I get to show you all how really smart I am. Not only is doggie waste unsightly and smelly but it is a breeding medium for germs and disease.

TECHNICAL FACT: EPA says that pet waste is a significant cause of water body contamination, because it contains lots of nasty bacteria of names I cannot even pronounce like Fecal Streptococcus and Fecal Coliform and can make people sick, sometimes very sick. We don’t want our people getting sick because of some humans who don’t care to pick up our poop.

WARNING: Dog waste contains a not-so-lovely disease transmitting organism such as round worms. These parasites can make their human victims very ill.

NEVER THOUGHT DOG POOP COULD DO SO MUCH DAMAGE, DID YA?

TIP: Put it in a plasitc bag and drop it in the trash or flush it down the toilet. Removing it and disposing of it is a public health and safety factor. Let’s all get smart and “DO THE RIGHT THING”

Every morning when Mom walks me in the neighborhood it’s the same dang thing here as what Mary Ann Waldron describes. We hear other good citizens who clean up after their dogs make mention that in Sedona there’s a City Code that people are s’posed to pay ‘tention to.

Guess there will always be those who just think they are special and rules are only made for others and not them. It would be awful if no one picked up after their animals. We’d be walking knee-deep in you-no-what and that’s no joke.

Come on folks, residents and visitors alike. Be responsible pet owners and show respect for others. Also, no cigarette butts, PLEASE. Can’t you believe it’s even necessary to bring that one up? Well, it is!
