Dear Harley McGuire - six years ago you tripped off across that Rainbow Bridge but you will live forever in my heart. ~Mom

Note from Poco Diablo: Harley, without you to walk beside me it's no longer fun. Mom forces me to "do it" but gosh - it ain't easy - specially by that scary house with the dog that still haunts me! (it's really jest a way ta git Mom to pick me up and carry me) - oh well - one day at a time is what we do.

A very important factor my little Poco Diablo left out of his comment is this.

Although he wasn't physically injured, after almost two weeks he remains traumatized and balks at walking in the direction of where the incident occurred. He's little but mighty! He plants all four feet firmly on the ground and no matter how hard I tug at the leash he WILL NOT WALK.

Since our daily walks have been and remain important to US, my alternative is to pick him up and carry him beyond the place which was so frightening for him.

To those who say "Well - it's only a dog" - Clearly you have no compassion and/or understanding of how meaningful they are to those of us who choose them for companions. This is offered with respect to your decision and hope you might offer reciprocal consideration.

Thank much & cheers!

Hi Harley McGuire, this is Bro Poco here thinkin' boutcha. Sure do miss you Buddy and hope your livin' the good life across that Rainbow Bridge.

Anyways, a reason you been on ma mind is 'cuz of a sperience Mom and I had. It was Mondy (Mom say March 8th whatevah that means) when our afternoon walk turned into a nasty a-fair. A neighbor's dog over on Morgan Road got loose and attacked ME.

Ya see, the owner of that doggie was in her car and had just turned into her driveway. She didn't see us, and let her pup jump from the car without a leash. As Mom bent down trying to grab me I broke away and draggin' mah leash behind me ran like a race car down Morgan Road. Mom was screaming "Poco, come back" but no chance of that happenin'. Mah mission was to get to the front porch of mah own house without being hit by a car or running into a herd of those piggy-lookin' critters.

Mom wasn't as lucky cuz she's tumbled to the ground when she tried to break up the fight. She was hurted. Ripped the flesh from one of her skinny legs and it was a bloody mess. But she jest worried bout ME!

The owner of the mean doggie of course was very upset - but a proper leash controlling the pooch most likely would have prevented the mishap. Now the "most likely" is important cuz even at that the accident coulda happened. But ya see, if her doggie had taken off that lady could have stepped on the leash and halted it.

She kindly walked back home with Mom and they met up with another neighbor who was a nurse and spotted me running with my tail AND leash dragging behind me.

Upside of this story: Cept for a sort of achy right front leg - no - I wasn't hurted. Mom's leg still looks pretty ugly but she say not so swelled.

Moral of this story: Dog owners - PLEASE keep yore doggies on leashes at ALL times. One never knows what tomorrow holds.

And that, Dear Bro Harley, is mah tail of woe and Ahm stickin' to it! Miss ya- WOOF!

Yo - JRN & Rosie

Tanks for the remind. Seems I'm always in some sort of pickle these days but cheery reminders do so help. When I recover from playin' Halloweenie Caterpiller maybe, just maybe, there will be time to take a few deep breaths and socialize. Mom says - no - Mom KNOWS I is in dire need of learning how to behave around strangers.
