Protect the Grand Canyon For All Americans

The New York Times recently spotlighted two major development proposals that would devastate the canyon's wild nature, beauty, and overall health. These projects would harm a national treasure, a wild place essential to our identity as Americans.

The first is a proposed tram that would take up to 10,000 people per day from the canyon rim down to the river. That project alone could turn the confluence of the Colorado and Little Colorado Rivers into a cross between a strip mall and an amusement park. Second, there is a major housing and hotel development proposal that would deplete groundwater and harm important springs and seeps that keep the Colorado River healthy. And third, there is the ongoing challenge of pollution from uranium mining seeping into creeks and threatening the Colorado River’s clean water.

Take action today. Sign the petition found at the above link opposing this unprecedented level of development.
