Today the American Red Cross Greater Phoenix Chapter will be closing the Shelter in Payson.

The Red Cross is working in coordination with Emergency Managers in Gila County as well as the Type 1 Incident Management Team. Volunteers set up and staffed the shelter at the Payson High School in support of those affected by the Highline Fire. The Red Cross would like to remind everyone to download the Red Cross Emergency app on their personal device. The Emergency app provides real-time and preparedness information, what to do during a fire and other disaster safety information.

Tonight the American Red Cross Greater Phoenix Chapter will be opening a Shelter in Payson is support of the Highline Fire.

The Red Cross is working in coordination with Emergency Managers in Gila County as well as the Norther Arizona Chapter of the Red Cross. Volunteers will set up and staff the Shelter as long as there is a need.

The Red Cross Shelter will be located in the gymnasium at the Payson High School, 301 South McLane, Payson, AZ 85541 on the South side of the campus.

The Red Cross would like to remind everyone to download the Red Cross Wildfire app on their personal device. The Wildfire app provides real-time and preparedness information, what to do during a fire, Shelter locations and comprehensive checklists.

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
