Doesn’t Sedona’s apparent determination to fund the chamber appear to be a shell game? Smoke and mirrors deviation from the former destination marketing farce?

If incorporated Sedona had any class let alone honesty and decency why not take city tax revenue and establish an authentic Sedona Visitor Center without ANY connection to this regional Chamber of Commerce? The beauty of Sedona begins and ends with the red rocks and scenic views.

Ultimately what’s behind it is a majority of stupid voters. The last couple of elections had candidates running who would have ended that “power and control” but voters were too stupid to elect them.

Since when was the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau deemed the “Destination Marketing & Management Organization in Sedona for 65 years?” Up until just a few years ago was it not the Oak Creek Canyon Sedona Chamber of Commerce, then changed to Sedona Chamber of Commerce, and most recently “& Tourism Bureau” was tacked on? This elaborate extension of creating yet another illusion that simply does not exist is pretty much over the top. Wouldn’t you agree? Dumb question.

We read the contents of the above article and were stunned. Had to read it twice to confirm what we thought we had read the first time. And it’s dated Jan. 7, 2017 but could have been written today. It’s true some things never change. What the hell is behind this power and control the Chamber maintains over Sedona City Hall? One might guess it’s all about $$$$$ for personal gain?????

Wow if that isn’t an eye opener then what is? Thank you “local business owners” (Sedona Chamber of Commerce members outside city limits.)

Has there ever been a better example of the absurd and ongoing policy of City of Sedona financing anything connected with a “regional” chamber of commerce which is a business member driven organization and NOT officially affiliated with incorporated Sedona government?

For certain we will continue to do business with “non-chamber members” – within or outside Sedona City Limits. In fact at least one of our favorite long time Sedona restaurants is NOT a chamber member and has survived for many yeas in spite of the high cost of her rental location.

Good luck to those “chamber” members who receive referrals from the “Sedona C of C Visitors Center & Tourism Bureau” and benefit even further by avoiding collecting Sedona “city” sales tax!
