Sedona was just as beautiful with dirt roads. It just had less tourist capacity.

Without a red sidewalk you might have to be aware so you would not trip on a real rock.

Without red tinted sidewalks you would not need a city to maintain them.

OMG NATURE !!!!!! We must pave and change it. Nature could not possibly survive with out a City in control and well paid city employees.

All the artwork in the round about won’t bring visitors to Sedona. It won’t make the residents feel welcome. It is about how Sedona makes the people feel. The city management needs to like and respect the residents and businesses in the city limits and treat them fairly. Instead they insult them by the constant rationalization of gifting the regional chamber and regional lodging millions. Because they suppress and bully the residents and businesses everyone is afraid to speak up. By not speaking up they think you agree with them.

Can’t make Sedona pretty on the inside bring people in to live and spend money as the negative treatment shines through. Just watch a city council meeting. It all BS with special interests controlling the olde CC. All BTW have no idea how to run a city, Ego IMO. They have taken away your rights.

I agree, why do we need such beautiful art work at that roundabout? I think that we should pull out all of those un-needed beautiful plants and red clay sidewalks. How about we get rid of the nice red rock medians between the road. I think that our roads should look more like Rt 17. I mean really, we have all of those red mountains to look at why should we invest in any beauty for our roads.

Way to go Marty. Didn’t take much to smoke West Sedona Resident (all CAPS)aka JW out from under her rock. She’s so predictable it’s boring.

And BTW @MaryS don’t feel too badly for the lucky artists that win the luck of the draw when our great city decides on which pieces to purchase for their place of honor. Contributing artists receive top dollar for their efforts whether people actually have the opportunity to see their work while, as you say, concentrating on playing Sedona’s world famous version of “Dodge ‘Em.” Heh, heh, heh. Lordy, Lordy -who would have thought.

@Tam. Is anyone here criticizing the art work itself? As I read the first comment made by tourists, they simply suggested that artists competing with the red rocks are sort of on a self-imposed “mission impossible.” (my words not their’s)

Such lovely art sculptures might be better viewed (and appreciated) in more appropriate areas where attention to navigate that roundabout without engaging in a multi-vehicle auto accident doesn’t occupy one’s undivided attention. How fair is that to the artist?
