Thank you Eileen, Inoch, and Sadie for your kind words. If it weren't for the contributions and support from you and others, "Dear Harley McGuire" obviously wouldn't still be part of the Sedona Eye. I look forward to future contacts and Mommy is telling me that my column is neglecting kitties and other beloved pets. Not my intention because I love all critters, tame and wild, even that bob cat that tried to attack me in the middle of one summer night in 2009. It lunged at the screen slider in the bedroom. I thought it was great fun and the big kitty just wanted to play with me. Mommy say "no, no . . .
that big dude was looking for a meal!" Wow, glad it wasn't me or I'd not be writing this just now.

Blessings and Happy New Year to you, too.

Lovingly,
Harley McGuire

Hi Harley!

My Mom showed me a Letter to the Editor that was just printed in the local paper today, I wanted to share it with your readers because people need to know what some of the volunteers do at the Humane Society of Sedona. Sometimes we take their efforts for granted and don't really appreciate all they do to help those of us who are still looking to go to a forever home.

God Bless you for doing that!

~Going to the Dogs Can Be a Good Thing~

How many of you woke up last Wednesday morning to teeming rain and black skies? It was a perfect morning to snuggle under the blanket a few more minutes or enjoy an extra cup of coffee.

After letting our dogs outside to a fenced-in yard, I thought of the volunteer dog walkers at the Humane Society of Sedona. It was 6:45a.m. and they were gathering at the shelter to begin their daily morning endeavor of making sure each and every dog receives a potty break and a quick walk to begin their day.

These incredible people put the dogs’ needs ahead of their own comfort. They have amazing dedication and concern for the care and well-being of these beautiful animals.

Our deepest thanks and gratitude go out to them for all they do to help those who have yet to find their forever home.

Oh, Inoch, you crack me up! Your recent and welcome letter turned me into a "Tickle Me Harley" doggie. For a while I was thinking maybe your mommy was going to try to make YOUR hair curly. In fact, mine is sort of curly which causes people to question my "breed" and that's just plain rude. Only my real mommy and daddy can answer that question.

As for Mother taking me places I don't want to be . . . NEVER would she dare for fear somone might accuse her of animal abuse and I'd be removed from her care. Yep, I sort of have in made in the shade over here.

Speaking of ladies and their hair styles, well, after a bizillion years Mom decided to have her's chopped off. It's kind of cool 'cause now very few folks recognize her. 'Twasn't her intent to be disguised but maybe that isn't a bad thing. Them 's that have curls want straight and veesa versy. Mommy's got some curls that didn't show up 'til the bob-job. The lady at the beauty parlor can do a nice style, but Mommy? Whew, probably only Helen Keller would appreciate the outcome.

Inoch, thanks for remembering me and I surely do hope your mother will read your grievance and take heed. I think she's pushing your patience over the top with all that nonsense. Just my opinion, mind you.

Lovingly,
Harley McGuire
