I am adamantly opposed to any alcohol or drugs or cigarettes being allowed on city property at any time. Our city restaurants are barely getting by in this economic quagmire now compounded by the Slide Fire. Business owners are up in arms that yet another city decision may impact negatively an ability to pay rents and workers.

Let's hear a resounding no vote from Council please on this poorly thought out agenda item.

@Dale: Excellent comments and well thought out!

Two other questions I have; 1) What level of Liability Insurance will the City have to pay for based upon selling booze on City land and furthermore and how much will it cost the City?

2) Does the City have to go to the State Liquor Board to get a Liquor License like the rest of the "businesses" who sell booze do? Oh, and then does the City Council have to bring the Liquor License back up to the Council for a special Liquor License - like all the other 'Special Event' groups have to?

In reading the Red Rock News Court article regarding arrests and fines etc - the two major Court components for Judge Lundy are Booze and Drugs! Shouldn't that tell us something?

What the hell is the City thinking??? Selling alcohol in city parks, especially Posse Grounds Park which is a stone's throw from an elementary school, is a bad idea. Drivers having one too many will have to negotiate the narrow, downhill Posse Grounds Road or the winding Soldiers Pass Road when leaving the event. This scenario presents danger not only to the passengers in the car but also to the innocent citizens using these same roads to get home to their neighborhoods. The City is opening itself to very expensive lawsuits. It seems that the City is looking for trouble. There are already plenty of establishments throughout the city that provide alcohol to their patrons. The City Parks should never be one of them.

If this City Parks gal and the City Council believe they need to allow Booze on sites owned by City in order to bring in visitors, etc., then the assets and events they want to sell are sorely lacking in interest to the majority of people unless they can have a glass of something in their hands.

Since the City is looking hi and low to get more money in their coffers to pay for their grandiose wish list - why should this concept surprise us?

the kids call this cray-cray. I just call it Crazy!
