The most common motorcycle fatality is caused by an oncoming driver turning into the path of a motorcyclist. The medical and rehab costs for those unfortunate riders is zero.

@ Klamath – I don’t know what you are talking about. No health insurance company has ever asked me what kind of vehicles I have or use. And “motorcycle deaths are exponentially greater than cars and survivors have greater long term rehabilitative care costs”?! Total nonsense. The number of riders compared to the number of enclosed vehicle drivers is miniscule. Plenty of those enclosed vehicle drivers suffer death and “long term rehabilitative care costs.”

Interesting exchange here & there is common sense written by you two…consideration that motorcycle deaths are exponentially greater than cars and survivors have greater long term rehabilitative care costs…insurance companies ask if you are a motorcycle rider for that reason…you cost more doc to the system.

“Motorcycle riders are shy of a full deck”? Come on, Phil. Motorcycling is a recreational activity enjoyed by millions around the world. To dismiss them all as somehow intellectually lacking is nonsense. It also implies that they are somehow responsible for injuries they sustain due to the negligence of others.

It’s nice that you express concern for the injured rider. Maybe drivers who drift into the oncoming lane deserve some of the criticism you have directed at the innocent motorcyclist.

And yes, I ride motorcycles.

This doesn’t look good for the motorcyclist. Damn things are way too dangerous because in a car he might have been slightly injured. Don’t get the thrill of riding those things. Can’t help but think motorcycle riders are shy of a full deck. Look at some of the flying stuff that hits car windshields and dangerous winds like we have here and you probably have there and it makes less sense. I pray he’ll be okay. No one deserves to be hurt by others.
