Every year during the spring break periods march-april Sedona gets hit with tourist. This year is no different.
Since the routine is that the second week past Easter things slow down I took a trip to flagstaff through uptown this weekend.
NO traffic at all. Going or coming, Not even the regular traffic seen in uptown. No police directing or seen at all.
If the city worked directly with the hotels and businesses then they would have known when they had occupancy rates and bookings at 100% just as they have every year for the last 30 years.
A lot of folks driving to Oak Creek Canyon and passing through Sedona.
Sedona you're a little too late

So, if we have traffic problems due to too many tourists, why are we giving over a million city tax dollars to the Chamber of commerce to get more tourists?

Then we hire more city police to direct this excess of tourists?

Only government would act this way. They sure are not acting in the interests of the residents. Maybe the short sighted interests of a few businesses that don't realize word of mouth of all the traffic will lose them business in the long run.

Hopefully the Police being in Uptown over the weekends will not only inconvenience the residence with any detour, but also inconvenience the tourists with a ticket as they walk across 89A on a Red light halting traffic, and/or cross mid-block darting between cars halting traffic. These two situations are constant to My experience.

When I mentioned this to one of the volunteer personal in Uptown, I was told they couldn't do anything unless someone got Hit. Wow, really!? Why are we so afraid to uphold the law? Crossing the street on a red light is against the law in all of the United States and most countries I presume, so they know better. Ticket them, or are we afraid they won't return. They won't return anyway after seeing our traffic problems.
