@ Ranger Man, Payson -- Before Sedona's injection well project was started a some years ago as a "pilot project," I did what I could to stop it. I was fairly alone in my attempt. None of the local eco groups cared. In fact, one of the Council members who was a Sierra Club member actually voted for it!

I provided Sedona Council with heaps of information. I suggested that a real pilot project would be for the people promoting this idea to have the sewer water piped into their homes, drink and bath in it, then get back to us in about 20 years. When it came to a vote, Barbara Litrell was the only Council member out of 7 to vote NO. As for the other 6, all I can say is what Mr. Natural said, "He who sh*ts in the road will meet with flies upon his return."

When the issue was being promoted, I made the point about contaminated waste water to City Engineer Mosley and he replied that “only the lower life forms were affected, amphibians.” Really. I can imagine Mosley as foreman in a coal mine: “Don’t worry about that dead canary, fellas; it’s just a lower life form.”

Below are links to stuff I wrote about the issue and were published here at the Eye. The first link is about Sedona's then Vice-Mayor hoping people downstream from Sedona will drink our waste water. Honestly! The second link goes to a fairly long-winded article, but if you scroll down a bit I finally get to the point. At the end there are links to documentation.

For all their blabber about "sustainability," Sedona Council was and remains clueless.

My 2 cents? Injection well systems need to be discontinued, ecologically dangerous. Go back to spray. Do proper research and find it destroyed coral reefs, causes earthquakes. Cheap and easy destroyed millions of years of reefs and closed 89A last year. Your tourist $$ disappear if 89A closes through the switchbacks but who cares? Chamber & city & eco groups & constituents silent and ought to be #1 proponents of no injection wells but you get what you elect to associate with in government & life. Stay away from our neck of the woods.

Like this site. Good to be a pain in the ass of the lazy & unimaginative. A writer's coverage kept me from getting a smart meter. That's powerful stuff folks.
