This evening the American Red Cross Northern Arizona Chapter responded, with numerous other public safety agencies, to a fire that destroyed six residential structures in Kingman.

As of 8:30 pm, the Red Cross was assisting three families. Currently a Disaster Action Team led by Red Cross Volunteer Gwen Powell is on scene and is seeking contact information for 2-3 additional families that might be affected by the fire. High winds in the area help spread the fire in a congested residential area.

Some of the structures that burned appear to be mobile homes. The fire is now under control and crews are overhauling the scene.

June 30 - July 4, 2017

Drivers will get a break from construction-related closures along freeways in the Phoenix area and across the state over the Independence Day weekend.

Drivers are urged to focus on safe driving, including slowing down and using extra caution in existing work zones across the state. Arizona’s “Stay Alert – Stay Alive” highway safety recommendations include:

Check your vehicle, including the tire pressure
Get some rest before traveling – fatigue is a serious safety risk
Never drive while impaired – arrange for a designated driver in advance
Allow extra travel time and be prepared for unscheduled closures.
