The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin a project next week to repave a 16-mile segment of Interstate 40 between Williams and Ash Fork. The project will include new pavement, guardrail replacement, pavement markings and some bridge work.

Work will be done in both directions on I-40 and will begin on Tuesday, August 6. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Crews will begin on the eastbound lanes as they begin to repair and replace damaged guardrail through the work zone. For the next three weeks, drivers can expect a single lane restriction through the work zone, minimal delays are expected.

This project is scheduled to be complete by spring of 2014.

Paving on I-17 begins next week so expect lane restrictions Monday-Friday, August 5 through August 9, 2013:

Paving work will begin on northbound Interstate 17 between State Route 179 (Sedona turnoff) and Stoneman Lake Road as roadway improvements progress.

Guardrail work through the project area has been underway since June, and the next step is to mill and repave the entire eight-mile stretch of I-17. In early September, rubberized asphalt will be placed along the corridor.

Starting Tuesday, Aug. 6, lane restrictions will be required when crews begin paving. Work will take place from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, with work on Fridays possible. Paving work should last approximately six weeks.

The project is anticipated to be complete in late fall 2013.

To learn more about rubberized asphalt, call the ADOT Project Hotline at 1.855.712.8530 or email Projects@azdot.gov with questions or comments.

A pavement improvement project between State Route 169 mileposts 5 and 9 will begin on Tuesday, July 30 and continue through Friday, August 2 beginning near Orme Road.

SR 169 will be narrowed to one lane in three-mile segments from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through the rest of the week, as the pavement maintenance is completed on the roadway. Pilot cars will direct traffic through the work zone; and drivers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes. The speed limit through the work zone will be 45 mph until the project is complete.

Please proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
