AZ Governor Ducey extends stay-at-home order until May 15

AZ Gov. Ducey issues guidance for stay-at-home statewide Executive Order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Sedona AZTo continue to limit the spread of COVID-19, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey extended his stay-at-home order for all of Arizona until May 15, 2020.

The order says Arizona residents must limit time away from the house except:

  • To conduct or participate in essential activities.
  • For employment, to volunteer or participate in essential functions.
  • To utilize any services or products provided by essential business services.
  • For employment if as a sole proprietor or family owned business, work is conducted in a separate office space from your home and the business is not open to serve the public.

Read the list of essential activities, functions and services here and the updates to essential services here.

Additionally, Gov. Ducey announced non-essential businesses may open for retail in the following phases:

  • On May 4, 2020, businesses may open for retail goods sales via curbside and delivery or appointment.
  • On May 8, 2020, businesses may open for retail goods sales if they follow strict physical distancing and implement public health protections and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines including:
  • Reduced occupancy/capacity.
  • Comprehensive sanitation protocols.
  • Options for curbside or delivery.
  • Fitting rooms remain closed at clothing stores.

Restrictions to businesses like bars, restaurants, gyms, spas and salons will continue as they have in April, with more specific guidance from Ducey expected in the coming weeks. Restaurants may continue to offer curbside and delivery services.

As stated in the Executive Order: The intent “is to ensure that people maintain physical distance to the maximum extent feasible, while enabling essential services to continue, reinvigorating our economy, protecting people’s rights and slowing the spread of COVID-19 to the greatest extent possible. When people need to leave their places of residence, whether to perform essential activities, or to otherwise facilitate authorized activities necessary for continuity of social and commercial life, they should at all times and as much as reasonably possible comply with physical distancing recommendations.”

The latest Alignable Pulse Poll of 9,500 small business owners from April 24-26, 2020, shows 34% of those small businesses nationwide who responded won’t pay May rent in full, of which 84% will only be able to pay half of the rent or less next month.

While the majority of small businesses have made arrangements with landlords for reduced or delayed payments, 36% of those who responded can’t get their landlords to budge.

While this a very small sampling, it does reflect those 9,500 business responses.

How goes it in Sedona for you? Did you work something out with the landlords or not? Can you afford to pay or not? Give an idea to us living here in Sedona.

I’m in Northern Arizona. No rules or policies that the Governor has put in place are being observed or enforced. So I’m not sure what good any of these are doing and unless the stores and businesses are forced by whatever means needed, the Government is wasting alot of time and money on this. Just because there’s tape and people standing at doors, doesn’t mean a thing when there’s 200 people in Walmart or Safeway.

  3. Cardelle Mix says:

Yayyyyy ….. better to be SAFE….. THAN 6FT DOWN UNDER AT A VERY VERY VERY YOUNG AGE. GOD BLESS N BE WITH YOU ALLLLLLL…..

  4. Mike H says:

Corona has a 99.993% survival rate.

If you are old, overweight, have diabetes , guess what, you are going to die anyway. Lose weight, don’t eat junk, take your vitamins, live long. It’s not rocket surgery. If it saves only one life is BS. We could ban cars, that would save about 40,000 lives a year.

News flash, no one gets out alive.

  5. Hand sanitizer by AZ distillery available says:

Arizona businesses Phat Scooters, based in Tempe, and Scottsdale’s PurMD, will be selling gallons of hand sanitizer in Flagstaff on Friday at Vora Financial Group, 14 E. Birch Ave, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Each gallon will cost $47, with $1 off preorders made online, with a limit of four gallons per family. Individuals will be able to drive up, place an order or pick up their preorder, while staying in their car. Individuals living within a six-mile radius of Vora Financial can have the hand sanitizer delivered.

Preorders can be placed at http://www.WeGotYouCOVID.com.

The hand sanitizer is produced by a family-owned whiskey distillery in Houston.

For each gallon purchased, $7 will be donated to Houston hospitals and residents, $2.50 for Arizona school districts, $2.50 for the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans Foundation, $1 for Feeding America and $1 to help food banks feed families across Arizona who are facing hunger during the COVID-19 crisis.

Next week, the group will also be delivering gallons of hand sanitizer and other supplies to the Navajo Nation.

  6. VISITORS NOT WELCOME IN SEDONA says:

    https://sedonachamber.com/sedona-update/

Although nearly two-thirds of American travelers say they miss travel and “can’t wait to get out and travel again,” this week, 63.5 percent of American travelers still agree they don’t want visitors coming to their community right now. Only one-in-ten disagrees.

    That said. LET’S OPEN!!!!! What’s a few lives ?

  7. Off the beaten path says:

    From the Sedona Chamber:

“Top market research firm Destination Analysts (DA) believes travelers’ choices will trend away from large, dense cities and towards “off-the-beaten-path communities, experiences and adventure activities,” that favor smaller, nature-oriented destinations such as Sedona.”

In other words, what Sedona used to be before the Great Chamber Giveaway.

Hey kiddies, bumper to bumper traffic does not signify “off the beaten path”. As a matter of fact, bumper to bumper traffic and crowded trails are the very definition of the beaten path. You think you can change Sedona’s reputation now?

Stick a fork in tourism for Sedona, it’s done. All the air B&B homes will be for sale cheap soon. There will be Sedona affordable housing. Too bad you ruined Sedona’s reputation and made it a tourist trap.

Ya’ll blew it. Karma strikes again.

  8. Enjoy your infectious day says:

Site from AZ dept of health.

    Arizona infection rate is 1.14
Yavapai County infection rate is 1.34.
    New York is .78
We are infecting twice as many people as NY.

    https://covidactnow.org/us/az/county/yavapai_county

Yet we went beyond the first stages of opening up within days.

That is the difference between good and bad leadership. Think about this when you vote. Would they have my best interest and that of my family, my mother, my children? What are we worth in dollar value?

Gov. Ducey will never become a Senator because of this historic, very public international blunder.

  9. @ Enjoy your infectious day says:

You are a classic sucker to believe any of the stats being thrown around by “the authorities.” Stop watching the MSM. The test is bogus, inaccurate. Death certificates have been falsified. Thus the stats are meaningless.

You are also a classic sheep to need or want “leadership.”

  10. Julie says:

There have been 29 times that there has been an open Supreme Court seat during an Election year or before an inauguration, and every single time, a sitting President has made a nomination. As a Democrat I support filling the seat now. Like Ruth Bader Ginsberg said a President has the job to do and he or she should do it.

  11. Bruce says:

Arizona was one of 41 states that saw its jobless rate fall in August. Arizona’s 4.8 percentage point reduction is one of the steepest in the nation. The state’s unemployment rate fell below the national rate of 8.4% after being higher than the national average. August numbers are also the lowest since the COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of schools and businesses in March.

Vote for Ducey who kept his eye and government on getting new businesses like Amazon to keep us employed. Ducey landed Amazon and its 11 new sites to hire 3000 workers at double minimum wage starting salary and majority of job salaries higher. AOC Democrats didn’t want that kind of job market for NYC and that’s what a socialist fool puppet does. Joined at the hip with Dem-CA Gov Newsome who just banned all non electric cars in California after 2035. Come on Sedona council do the same and let the residents help you pack your bags for the last electric car out of town. There aren’t words to describe how many anti Americans in the democrat party trying to turn our government and standard of life to be like Russia and China which they admire. No thanks. Been as tourist and happy to never go back. Biden calls them friends. I call them something unprintable.

  12. Francis Ryan Jr. says:

what’s going on??????? Joe in bunker and now CommaLa headed down to hers ???? They’re doing poorly whenever they open their mouths that they’re being shut up by their party????? Yeah. I’d buy that.

  13. Shelby & Sunset says:

One fourth of NY deaths were from Cuomo’s decision to put the sick in nursing homes. Okay it was a wrong decision, it costs lives that didn’t need to be lost, but I don’t hear New York owning it and moving on. Since then they’ve learned more. Get on with saving lives and don’t repeat past mistakes.

I know and you know that we didn’t know anything about global coronavirus pandemics and that means the first responses would be equally wrong or right. I am in healthcare and think by May we were finally beginning to save lives we would have lost due to our medical and scientific ignorance; that’s the learning curve.

Respirators were made available, but we learned they might be worse than just oxygen. We learned and we learned quickly.

We learned some drugs helped or worked and we’re learning more now. Our medical and scientific people did this in less than a year. LESS THAN A YEAR. It’s because the administration cut red tape, funneled money to PPE, sent ships, delivered railroad cars full of test kits than worked unlike those from China, it’s because the administration forced American businesses to manufacture sanitizers and medical supplies and stopped them from shipping it overseas, and, we began to practice good hygiene – like washing hands many times a day and not coughing in public without a mask.

No nation on this planet did more for their own country than this administration did for us during this crisis, none. And this nation helped other nations when no one helped us! This administration performed miracles. They kept places like NY and California from falling into an abyss of death from present and past mismanagement. That’s why enough people survived to create this Hollywood and anti-administration false narrative in those states.

We’ve been damaged and we’ve been hurt, but we’re all (except one or a few) not living in basements or fearmongering. It isn’t Trump’s fault. It isn’t anyone’s fault, but the scientists who created the coronavirus in a lab in Wuhan, China. Own it. It’s fact. If you believe in science, then you believe that. If you’re a political hack, then you don’t believe in the science of the Wuhan source. You can’t have it both ways. You may not be able to handle truth. Ask the few scientists in the beginning who were sounding the alarm and pointing to China. Remember that the World Health Organization knew and kept it secret for months from the rest of the world – except Russia who closed its border with China before 2020.

China in the end went with their political hack government and decided its 2025 goal of world domination was more important than disclosing a breach of safety in their Wuhan bio lab. After all, China has a billion plus people to be culled to make their country easier to manage, less mouths to feed.

Oh well. This American administration believed in its people and we rose to the challenge. Well, SOME of us got out of our basements and went to work trying to fix the problem and some of us are still there crying foul.

  14. Jose Crews & R.Patel, Goodyear & Flagstaff says:

Look around life’s is whole lot better here in Arizona now under Trump for us rich poor and in the middle like us with border under control. #latinosfortrump #indiansfortrump #techiesforrepublicans #makeamericagreatagain

You want a Long Dark Winter? Vote Democrat.
You want your kids educated and stores open and ability to be responsible? Vote Republican.

  17. Al says:

The economy is booming for Hispanics. Did you see the numbers this week? Under President Trump Hispanics and Latinos were the HIGHEST performing segment of the economy and beating black African Americans. Obama wrote our country off and Biden sent our people to jail beginning in 1994 with the crime bill he authored and that Trump rescinded the first year in office. You think somebody like him would get to be VP without lots of thugs and mugs behind him and bankrolling him? You White people aren’t very smart in your suburbia. The Democrats know they have your votes because you’re not smart. LMAO This is the greatest economy in the history of our nation and you white people don’t deserve it but we minorities do. VOTE PRESIDENT TRUMP IN AGAIN.

  18. Jan says:

Stop with the covid numbers – we get it and we dont need to know each day –
Report the deaths not the infections – move on for gods sake and we’re not going in lockdowns or basements for a winter – kiss our
Healthy asses and stay out of our way – you can advertise for tourists then we can be outside –

  21. Bob, VOCA says:

I don’t know who to trust now in my neighborhood. Democrats are scary Nazis and Gestapo sympathizers. Republicans are being shunned and disenfranchised, Jews and Christians are being censured, internet is being controlled by 5 yr olds living in parents basements. My dollar will go to Republican businesses because I’m not funding or donating to socialism. Did you hear the tape of the Congressional winners meeting? Did you hear them saying to keep quiet and not use the word socialism when in public and the house? Personally I will miss Trump and his transparency but unlike you my balls were always bigger than his words. Like Nicholson said, you Democrats never could handle the truth. Enjoy your time with Biden Harris. Republicans will win 4-1 next election when your taxes go up, your cops don’t show up, and your cup is half full. I hear bets are being taken in Vegas for how long it is before Joe gets coronavirus and doesn’t survive and Harris moves on up. Hillary’s white privileges’ must be screaming and (deleted by editor) to lose to a woman who is Indian and Jamaican married to a white atheist Jew. If he’d only been an Ethiopian Jew it would have been a quadfecta. Let’s all pretend she’s black now.

You back slapping racists think you have a mandate with a 3% lead in national polls. You don’t have our confidence. You aren’t respected with your dementia addled two timing Russian multi million dollar payoff bank account and your coke toting liar kid and your corrupt family. You better keep that electoral college because it’s the only way you can win. You keep telling us you will do what Trump already did? White racist Biden has a long history of being anti black and he didn’t chose his VP it was the socialist money bags. Biden is the tit for the socialist power elitists.

  24. San Fran Belarusana says:

Be ready for a lockdown to keep you under their thumb. Hardly anybody dying and you think they need reasons to keep you locked up and scared?

Notice she never mentioned her Jamaican-American father because it’s well known here they despise each other? He is a CA Stanford professor who said that she embarrasses him and his family.

Her DNA is 50% Tamil with a miscellaneous Caribbean remainder of white and black. Watch her suddenly return to her mother’s Hindu child again emphasizing being Asian like it will give her insight into handling China and Korea. Those cultures have derogatory names for mixed race Asians like her. Her husband is white and Jewish. No kids of her own. Welcome her to DC the first time she’s gonna live in a predominately black neighborhood and if she goes to a Baptist church rather than a temple well that’s how it goes with her because it’s all about the (deleted by editor) Show.

PS You can come out of your basements now because Donald Trump and warp speed worked for you.

  25. Lena says:

A New York Times article noted that in her acceptance speech for the VP nomination, in which she pretty much thanked her entire family, but her father Donald Harris was absent. Her parents bitterly divorced when she was 6. She went to live in Canada at the age of 12. Kamala and her father didn’t and don’t speak. Safe to say he had almost no impact on her upbringing. Her father did get citizenship but it was after Kamala was born.

  26. Lionhearted says:

I didn’t vote but nobody should win any contest til all good votes are counted. Doesn’t matter & check to make sure they’re good. Nobody’s in a rush.

  27. Gus says:

Democrats stole the election. Hillary’s revenge. The ballots cast this election were because of President Trump’s America first support because Biden’s Chinese and other corrupt dark money pals had to step in and pay for Joe’s. Remember this sheeple . . . . It took dark money billions who checked in a few months ago to rescue your Joe because Americans weren’t donating and he couldn’t raise enough money for a campaign that allowed him to leave his basement. Biden’s the same polidick he’s always been for 47 years sheeple. He’ll always take care of Joe and his family first. The rest of us not so much and never has minorities. You’re going to miss President Trump when the money dries up again like it did when Biden was VP and a Senator. Remind me sheeple when your sons and daughters are sent to war how much you miss President Trump. Goodnight Sedona.

  28. FPL says:

It begins!!!!! Nasty emails from DNCC and their rat packs saying Do you hate Donald Trump? And We’re the Hispanic Caucus!!!!! Tell Joe you support him!!! Black Caucus for Kamala!!! STOP with your Obama administration hate speech!!! STOP STOP. You started this with Obama. That’s why Trump won. STOP!!!!!

  29. Ellen, Sedona says:

Couldn’t vote for either. Biden never was a good idea and that meant voting for Kamala Harris for President and she’s not a good choice because her beliefs aren’t acceptable, and Trump did a remarkable job while President but he’s gong to be clobbered for 4 more years. I stayed home and won’t ever vote by mail except as absentee. I do support checking every vote to make sure it’s legal because I believe they lied and cheated to get the win. My opinion and dont care who agrees or disagrees.

  30. Rick says:

    @FOL. Amen amen amen

Coronavirus task force by Biden?! They loved Dr. Fauci. Why not keep the present scientific team who knows what they’re doing?? The Obama admin screwed up the bird flu epidemic and that’s a scientific fact. The warp speed model is superior to whatever these newcomers can do.

  31. Carmela Vasquez, Sun Valley GOTV says:

Trump promised a vaccine before the Democrats scientists said it was possible and got called a fool and liar and belittled by Democrats and media for saying it. Look at Pfizer and hear the Democrats screaming to keep the lid on the vaccines because a long dark winter suits their needs best – and they need time to look like they came up with a vaccine. They want to redo what Trump already has done. Who does that in a pandemic. Democrats “do nothings” are back.

  32. heff says:

    in a word boloney

  33. Al says:

Obama was biracial, but Harris is multiracial and only 1/4 African ancestry if that. She’s not even brown by urban definition. She’s south Asian who aren’t American urbanized to be brown or black.

  34. steve segner says:

Carmela Vasquez, Sun Valley GOTV says “Look at Pfizer and hear the Democrats screaming”. Sorry, not true Pfizer was not part of the Trump vaccine program, Pfzer used there own money and the results by a third party testing the company not over seen by Pfizer called the president of Pfizer Sunday with the results. In an interview with CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta, Bourla said he first learned about the results of the trial Sunday and he has yet to see the data, throwing cold water on the idea that there was any political motivation behind releasing the news after voters in the United States chose their candidate for president.
Pfizer took several interim looks at the data during its vaccine trial, but it did not have enough infections in its test group to gain any meaningful data — until Sunday, Gupta reported. hope that helps

  35. Linda says:

@stevesegner nice try w/disinfo steve. you getting first crack at sedona asian bookings?

  36. Dave says:

It’s been almost two weeks since Election Day, and Democrats still haven’t won a *single one* of the 27 House races in @CookPolitical’s Toss Up column. Four remain too close to call: #CA21, #CA25, #IA02, #NY02 and #NY22.

Guess we are staying inside for the long dark winter with no toilet paper? Not me and mine and we’re eating turkey together. Gov Ducey don’t be afraid to stand in the light of sending kids and workers back. The CDC says it. Swedes say it. Americans say it.

  37. Biden wins AZ says:
