None of this good work would have been possible without leaders and followers, I hope the 89A is looking spectacular, trash-litter has a very negative effect on the image and economy of every community.

Thanks you SedonaEye.com for being a big part of the anti-litter effort in the Verde Valley.

Look forward to seeing you on a Facebook page some day.

Nice work, Gary. Will repeat - your decision to relocate to North Carolina from the Verde Valley was definitely their gain - and a loss to the State of Arizona. The example you continue to set is truly the "American Way" - action without begging and/or whining! You continue to produce winners because you, yourself, are a winner. Not a task for sissies who, unfortunately, become prey for bullies! Stand tall. It's a privilege to call you a friend.

Sincerely,
E. Maddock

Hey SedonaEyE.com,

Thanks for your anti-litter support over the years. I thought your readers might want to explore what we're doing with our Arizona-Born, Raised-In-America anti-litter effort.

The North Carolina Litter-Free Coalition is “Empowering Our Youth”.

Our youth are our future anti-litter messengers for restoring the beauty to America the Beautiful. Litter has a negative impact on the image and economy of every community in any state.

What we are doing:

The North Carolina Litter-Free Coalition is restoring the beauty to America the Beautiful through education, awareness and encouraging all schools in North Carolina to participate in the America the Beautiful effort.

The North Carolina Litter-Free Coalition is contacting K-12 school administrators and teachers that will conduct four school campus cleanups and one “Anti-Litter- Earth Day” poster contests in each school year to promote “PRIDE” in self, school, community and country.

The North Carolina Litter-Free Coalition is encouraging school campus cleanups prior to the third Saturday of February, May, August and November.

Anti-litter poster contests are encouraged prior to “Earth Day” and all posters are to be judged by the school leaders conducting them. Each school is encouraged to promote their efforts with their local newspapers and media organizations. Administrators and teachers realize they and parents play a critical part in educating their students as to the negative consequence of litter on their school grounds and in their community.

We hope our educators and parents will instill the concept of “community pride” and how it shapes the future as it relates to job opportunities, viable businesses and the perception others travel through their communities.

We also want teachers and parents to understand that the litter that is left on their school grounds after school events has a cost associated with it that impacts their school budget; there is a cost to have paid school employees pick up litter that could be better utilized for other student benefits.

Parents, please help us by doing your part, and having discussions with your children regarding this negative issues associated with school and community litter.

Be part of the solution to the litter that plagues “America the Beautiful”.
