On May 4th, 2016, the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to proclaim the month of May as “Yavapai County’s Wildfire Community Preparedness Month”. The proclamation highlights the unique risks posed by wildfire, and the preparedness measures citizens can take to mitigate the potential hazard.

Now is the time to create defensible space around your home. Cut away vegetation 5 to 30 feet from all structures. Remove all debris and dead vegetation from roofs, decks, and the ground around your home. Yavapai County’s annual FREE slash (brush, branches, grass, leaves and yard trimmings) drop-off program is currently available at county transfer stations April 11TH through June 11TH.

Please help spread the preparedness message. PREPARE- your property, family & pets – PLAN – who will you call, where will you meet, what will you take - BUILD A TO-GO KIT – food, water, medicine, personal needs etc. STAY INFORMED – radio, news, online.
