Safety improvement project along 89A progresses - Lane restrictions for installation of electric lines continue through end of May.

The Arizona Department of Transportation continues construction to install roadway lighting in Sedona on State Route 89A from Dry Creek Road to Airport Road this week through the end of May. Crews are completing the installation of underground electric lines, which will require lane restrictions along SR 89A from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday through the end of May.

The $4.3 million project also includes a new traffic signal at Andante Drive and roadway repaving from Arroyo Piñon Drive to just west of State Route 179. The paving work is scheduled to begin in June.

Motorists are advised to pay close attention to signage and observe posted speed limits which will be reduced in the work zones. ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
