Missing Nevada man Edward Cox, 69, gray hair and blue eyes, 5 ft 8 in tall, clothing unknown at time of disappearance, 185 pounds

Sedona AZ (May 27, 2015) –  Yavapai County Arizona Sheriff’s Office deputies are hoping to locate Las Vegas, Nevada, resident Edward “Ed” Cox, 69. Mr. Cox was last seen by an unrelated person driving his blue Buick Regal sedan north on Forest Road 24 (north of Cave Creek AZ) towards Forest Road 269 (also called Bloody Basin Road) on May 11, 2015.

YCSO was not contacted until May 17, 2015, when deputies were dispatched to an abandoned vehicle call involving a Buick Regal found on Bloody Basin Road, approximately 6 miles west of the Verde River near the Sheep’s Bridge. The front driver’s side tire was flat and no one was in the vicinity of the car. The scene provided no appearance of foul play or a distress based incident. Edward Cox was the registered owner of the vehicle.

After determining that Cox was the car’s owner, YCSO attempted to locate him in the surrounding area without success. Over the next 48-hours, YCSO deployed its Rescue 1 Helicopter, a fixed wing aircraft, and ground searchers, but could not locate the missing man.

YCSO contacted Edward Cox’s family members and Las Vegas law enforcement asking for a check of his last known addresses, including a hotel room identified from paperwork discovered in the car. Cox could not be found, and his family had no idea why he would travel out of state. Family members noted Cox has had bouts with manic depression in the past and takes associated medications. It is unknown if Cox possessed those medications at the time of his disappearance.

No area hospital  connections were discovered and a review of Cox’s bank records indicate non use since May 11, 2015. His cell phone has been off since May 10, 2015.

If anyone has information or had contact with Mr. Cox, please call the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260 immediately.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at 928-771-3260 or the YCSO website at www.ycsoaz.gov.
