Yavapai County Unsung Hero Receives Award

Mark Tufte, Unsung Hero

Cottonwood AZ (September 27, 2010) – Yavapai County Supervisor A.G. Chip Davis presented the Unsung Hero Award to Mark Tufte. Catholic Charities nominated Tufte for his work with Arizona Saves financial education in the Verde Valley.

Mark is the Branch Manager at Country Bank in Cottonwood Arizona. He teaches financial education classes to county residents on a variety of subjects including banking basics, budgeting, using credit wisely and credit repair.

Tufte is a natural fit when it comes to teaching financial education. He is passionate about the subject matter and enjoys seeing participants soaking up knowledge. Because of Mark’s background in banking, he is a wealth of information both in and out of the classroom. He enjoys empowering and improving the lives of the participants and always asks that they set high goals for themselves.

Mark has conducted 29 workshops, served 252 participants in the Verde Valley, and committed 81.5 hours of his life to help change lives with financial education and skills. This year, Mark became a Master trainer. He will train new volunteers in the financial education curriculum so they will benefit from his skills and knowledge, allowing the program to grow and serve many others throughout the Verde Valley.

As is customary, Mr. Tufte received an Unsung Hero certificate from Supervisor Davis and chose as his favorite song “Live Like You’re Dying” to be played during the presentation.

To nominate a Yavapai County Unsung Hero, contact the Yavapai County Supervisor’s office at 928-639-8110 for information.
