Yavapai County July Unsung Heroes

L to R: Honorees Ed and Gloria Lewis with Kent Ellsworth and Supervisor Davis

Sedona AZ(July 26, 2011)-It is time once again to honor a team of Unsung Heroes here in the Verde Valley.  This award is for recognizing the many selfless, generous and dependable people who give of their time without ever asking for recognition; and that is what Ed and Gloria Lewis do.  The Lewis’ are our July 2011 Unsung Heroes.

Ed and Gloria were nominated by Kent Ellsworth with the Verde Valley Caregivers.  They began volunteering with the Caregivers in September 2007.  They drive adults in need to grocery stores to assist them with shopping; they give rides to medical appointments and most importantly have become real friends to the ones who live alone.  The Lewis’ have been able to touch the lives of so many in their time of need.  Ed and Gloria both said that they feel lucky to be able to help and thank God every day for the opportunity.

Yavapai County Supervisor Chip Davis presented the Lewis’ with a plaque on the “Mark in the Morning show.” The radio show was simultaneously videotaped and is available for viewing at www.myradioplace.com .

If you have an Unsung Hero in mind, contact Supervisor Davis’ office at (928) 639-8110 or email deshannan.young@co.yavapai.az.us . In addition to an article on SedonaEye.com, each winner is presented with a certificate and a song (of the honorees choice) dedicated to them during the “Mark in the Morning show.” Good deeds are noticed. Thank you, Ed and Gloria Lewis, for your contributions to better our world.

Don't litter. Keep the green in Verde.
