Yavapai College OLLI Open House

OLLI Fall Cover RevisedSedona AZ (September 7, 2014) – Yavapai College’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) of Sedona and the Verde Valley will kick off the fall semester with a Tenth Anniversary Celebration at its A Taste of Olli Open House on Thursday, September 18, 2014, 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the YC Sedona Campus, 4215 Arts Village Drive, west Sedona.

Everyone is invited to enjoy food, friends, speakers, and prizes. This is also a great opportunity to sample classes and workshops, meet facilitators, and sign up for fall classes that begin Monday, September 29.

OLLI began in 2004 offering only nine learning groups (classes). Now there are over 110 low cost learning groups and workshops available on the Sedona and Verde Valley campuses for seasoned learners with curious minds and hearts. There is no age requirement to join – only a love of learning.

The low cost classes and workshops are peer taught in a relaxed learning environment. Learning groups meet weekly for six to eight weeks with facilitators offering a wide range of topics, including health, finances, creativity, play, hiking, history, metaphysical, literature, meditation, photography, politics, aging, science, and much more.

OLLI offers free programs that include the popular Arizona Humanities talks. Join the OLLI Lunch and Learn Program (Sedona campus, Wednesdays; Verde Valley Clarkdale campus, Thursdays) featuring speakers from the local community and beyond at 12:30 in the afternoon. Lunch and Learn suggests a bring your own bag lunch or enjoy its complimentary coffee, tea, water and snacks. Everyone is welcome!

None of the learning groups, presentations, or workshops would be possible without the heart, passion, and dedication of OLLI volunteers and volunteer facilitators. OLLI is currently accepting facilitator proposals for the winter and spring semesters. Is there a particular topic that you would enjoy sharing with mature, inquisitive, and dynamic adults? There is no greater reward than to share what you love with others. You do not have to be a retired professor from a university to facilitate a class – the primary requirement is a passionate interest in the subject matter.

Fall catalogs are available at local libraries and stores, and online at www.yc.edu/ollisv. To request a catalog in the mail or request a facilitator proposal form, call 928-649-4275 or visit www.yc.edu/ollisv.
