Sedona AZ (February 20, 2013) – On February 16, 2013, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to investigate a reported sexual assault in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Officers from the Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) had already arrived at the incident location on west Arizona State Highway 89A at mile post 321.
The 47-year-old victim told PVPD officers that she was attacked and sexually assaulted by an unknown male suspect after stopping to check on the condition of a flat tire. The victim had suffered lacerations on her hands and abdomen, along with injuries to her head and upper body. A suspect could not be located.
She was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center East for treatment and has since been released.
The victim was not able to provide any further details regarding a suspect description.
Detectives determined this assault is NOT linked to the sexual assault incident reported by Prescott Police yesterday involving suspect Michael Soumokil, who remains in-custody.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau were called to the incident location and hospital to initiate an investigation. Evidence from the scene has been recovered and some items will be submitted for further examination by a crime lab. Over the next 24 hours, detectives gathered evidence from the scene and conducted multiple interviews with the victim and those persons who initially found her along the roadside.
Since the incident, detectives identified one person who was an investigative lead, but no arrest has been made. Detectives are withholding further details as the investigation moves forward, but any details regarding a suspect identity and or description will be made available to the public immediately.
