Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Area Commands MapSedona AZ (December 22, 2014) – Just before 6:30 this morning, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the Prescott Country Club, 1100 block of Old Chisholm Trail, Prescott, Arizona, regarding a body in the roadway. EMS personnel confirmed that a 70-year-old female was deceased. Deputies believe the victim, a resident of the country club community, had been hit by a vehicle. Passerby’s discovered the body but did not see any of the events leading to her death. Luggage belonging to the victim was found nearby, and it appears she was heading to the Maverick Country Store on State Highway 69 to catch shuttle transportation.

Detectives from the YCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau were called to the scene and began searching the area for witnesses. A resident in the vicinity of the incident recalled hearing a “thud” type noise just after 6:00 a.m. and then saw a vehicle with “round headlights” pull into his driveway, back out, and leave in the opposite direction. The resident was unable to provide further details and detectives are considering that the driver of this vehicle may be involved or have information as to what occurred. Detectives would like to speak with this person immediately as they are considered a person of interest.

It is believed the vehicle was traveling west on Old Chisholm Trail when the victim was struck.
