Widespread Flu Health Alert

Public Health LogoSedona AZ (January 23, 2013) – According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, “Arizona flu activity hit widespread this week – widespread is the highest category possible.” Confirmed cases of flu are being reported in every Arizona County, the majority being the 2009 H1N1 virus.

Influenza is a serious illness that claims lives every year. Symptoms are similar to the common cold except the flu comes on quickly and is more physically draining. In most cases, the best care is to stay home, drink plenty of fluids and rest. For others with certain medical conditions and weaker immune systems, the flu can be more severe and it is recommended that you see a doctor.

Yavapai County Community Health ServicesThe Yavapai County Community Health Services (and your local county health service) still has plenty of flu vaccine available and recommends everyone (6 months of age or older) get a flu shot as soon as possible. Most insurance plans are accepted and also special programs for those without insurance are offered.

    I opposed flu shots for many reasons. No mas. Never caught a flu by living in desert or in Phoenix & movies and shop with martians at Walmart like all of us here.
