We need to tell our politicians to get to work

Sedona AZ – The following is a letter to the SedonaEye.com editor:

Dear Editor,

Lots of us are getting sick and tired of being sick and tired of this border wall issue. Everybody worth their salt knows we need it. I speak with friends by phone in Sedona who are diehard Democrats and they snicker and one has said “it’s not about security, it’s about giving Trump a win at our expense.”

Our expense? Define “our”? Then, take a few minutes and tell me why Trump gets a win if the border fencing goes up? Because unlike you, I think we win. I define “we” as “all of us.”

We have to have the border barrier and more. The border fence Trump asked for is only steel slats along about 230 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border! And a third of that request (about 80 miles) REPLACES broken down inadequate fencing, while 150 miles, give or take, would cover present unfenced area. ONLY 150 miles !!!!!!

We need miles and miles and miles more than that, so tell me again how that equates to a win for Trump?

I’m disgusted with our elected representatives who turned into spineless rats because of newly elected under educated hair brains and old decrepit has beens afraid to be without a job in Congress. The rest of us want and know what should be there, a fence. A fence is needed. I’m beginning to think our politicians are traitors and spies for other countries!

JUST DO IT. Call your local representatives now and tell them to get to work. We need to begin to see who should or shouldn’t be elected ever again.

Who gives a (deleted by editor) about a Trump win. He’s done more for our minorities than anybody else as President. I didn’t vote for him, might not vote for him in the next election, but damn I don’t mind giving the man credit when he earned it.

Bob your info regarding the miles of wall need are just flat wrong …
You say only 150 miles of wall are needed!?

I think the US/Mexico boarder is QUITE a bit longer the that….. Aprox 1900 miles.
Me thinks the whole basis of you article is incorrect.

How dare you say everybody on this site hates the city of Sedona. It isn’t truthful in the least. I’m on this site every day for a quick review of comments and lots of people I know do the same. @Riva response is grotesque in its absurdity and if I asked Pat it might not be a response that isn’t tinged by his associations like how the volunteers roles have been degraded the past few years that nobody but volunteers say because they don’t want to be dinged by those in power. Your mentality is repugnant to me. You are the type that causes us to lose faith in the people around here. YOU. Not the people on this site but YOU. Nobody here hates tourists, they hate prostitution for tourists. We love the film fest but we don’t like being shunted aside in favor of city deadheads after years of helping. My money helps the film festival and I expect to hear on this site an answer. Go ahead you repugnant (deleted by editor) and call Pat yourself and write his answer if he’s not willing to respond himself. Riva

Some people in the Village of Oak Creek asked about the Big Park Council. Here’s its web address

    BigParkCouncil.org

You’ll have to ask around which one is your representative. Most people I’ve talked to believe that they all seem to be in favor of developers. I’m not even sure why they exist as a council to begin with. Anybody know why?

I heard some kids talking about taking a senior trip to Mexico during lunch yesterday. I’m concerned that local parents have been lulled into thinking its better there than they are led to believe. No should be the word when your kids ask you to go to Mexico. Other places too. Want to bring your kids home in body bags than you’ll not pay attention to State Dept travel alerts.

    Today’s headline….excerpt below:

Former Obama White House Counsel and Clinton-linked attorney Greg Craig may soon be charged by the Justice Department for engaging in illegal unregistered overseas lobbying, in a case initially probed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller — a development that would make him the first Democrat to face prosecution amid the long-running Russia investigation.

The case centers on lobbying work that Craig performed in 2012 for the Russian-backed president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, while Craig was a partner at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Craig allegedly never registered as a foreign agent under a U.S. law known as the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA, which requires lobbyists to declare publicly if they represent foreign leaders, governments or their political parties….

Has Pickels lost his mind? The city of Sedona has been up and down the court ladder to get a judgment against Sun Silver West at the expense of the tax payers. Now the city has to file a lawsuit in order to enforce the judgement. Who is playing who. Why did not the city file the lawsuit in the fist place? The travesty is the taxpayers are paying for this fiasco. Pickels has clearly been played. IMO tIME TO GET A NEW CITY ATTORNEY.

  8. @JJ says:

    Hey JJ
Give it a rest.. (deleted by editor)

  9. Steve Segner says:

JJ you would be the first to complain if builders did not follow zoning rules. the city must enforce all zoning reg,’s or it can be sued by neighbors. yes give it a rest.. the city is not short on money thanks to visitors we can afford to run the city the correct way not the JJ cheap way.

  10. Make work Attorney says:

PIckels is the City attorney, there is an Asst City Attorney and a Legal Assistant. I have no doubt they have a secretary also. They are so over staffed that even a government employee has to find something to do to look like they are working.

The City of Sedona is a massively overstaffed spending machine.

  11. An Observation says:

Judging from what goes on at Sedona City Hall it seems the entire council and staff work for/represent only one segment of the community which isn’t limited to Sedona City Limits. That being: the regional chamber of commerce. And that includes the city attorney – IMO of course. Therefore I’m in agreement with JJ. Free speech is about the only thing they can’t tax us for (so far).

  12. Alarmed says:

Steve Segner is lying about the money the City receives from visitors. According to the SEDONA COMMUNITY REPORT SPRING 2018: “FY 2017 city revenues generated by sales & bed taxes . . . . 57%, two-thirds of which is paid by visitors.” Two- thirds of 57% is 38%.

Not paying their fair share: the over 50% of visitors.

  13. funny stuff says:

I agree with JJ. To the cast of Klan what makes you think you can boss JJ around?Do you know her or him?

Transparent as HeKK. Segner “we can afford to run the city the correct way not the JJ cheap way.” Not a resident Segner. WE me We me giveme giveme sedona city bed tax. :) Sounds like lodging is the cheap ones IMO

(SedonaEye.com editor: We believe “cast of Klan” references the TV series.)

It’s final. Mueller says Trump didn’t do anything. Nobody thought he did but rabid the Dems who couldn’t let the loss of election responsibility fall on Hillary. She wasn’t worth a vote and got too many. She and Billy were narcissists and power hungry elitists that Barack Obama couldn’t even stomach and who thought the peons of America beneath them and could be bought. They proved themselves right. They came up a few bought votes short.

Hello Bill. Hello Hillary. You two hated each other. Notice to you both? You both are (deleted by editor) who hated America and Americans. You created the Clinton Foundation in case you lost so you could live well beyond your means. You continue to do so and while the Dems scream about 1%ers, they overlook the Clintons, Bernie Sanders (he owns how many million dollar homes?????), AOC (how’d she get a million for her campaign advisor??), and so many others my fingers would fall off. STOP the mania. Democrats wise up. You are the party of plantation owners. Figure it out.
