VOCA Board of Directors Bios and Vote Reminder

Sedona AZ (March 31 2011)–Ballots for the Village of Oak Creek Association Board of Directors have been sent to all members. The ballots must be received by mail or returned in person to the VOCA Office by 1:00 PM on April 16, 2011. Members who did not receive a ballot are urged to contact the Association office at 928-282-1820 immediately. Go to VocaOnline.com for additional information about the election and the three VOCA residents vying for the open board seat, Arthur Levin, Duane DePaepe, and Greg Lanzoni. 

For your convenience and selected in random order are short bios of each candidate:

Duane DePaepe, seven year VOCA resident served three terms on the City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Commission as Vice Chair and Chair, and as a councilor with the Arizona Attorney General Sedona office documenting consumer fraud and civil rights abuses. He has also volunteered as an Interpretive Naturalist at Red Rock State Park. DePaepe has a BA and Master’s with some post graduate work and worked for 25 years with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and did environmental consulting in Central America. 

Arthur Levin, six year VOCA resident served on the Greens Committee since 2004 with four years as Chair, the VOCA By-law Revision Committee, the VOCA Strategic Planning Committee and, presently, is serving on the VOCA Golf Pro Search Committee. After his retirement as CIO of Becton Dickinson and Company, Levin moved to uptown Sedona in 2001 and immediately joined OCCC. He relocated from the city of Sedona to the Village in 2005. Levin holds a degree in Political Science from Syracuse University and attended Bernard Baruch School of Business (CCNY). Levin worked for several large international manufacturing companies before retiring from his Information Technology and Business Redesign career at Becton Dickinson.

Greg Lanzoni, a nine year VOCA resident was elected in 2008 to a three-year VOCA Board term and now serves as its Secretary. He has served and is serving on the VOCA Election committee(s), the Greens Committee, the Strategic Planning Coordinating Committee, as well as past service as a Chair of VOCA’s House & Grounds Committee. Lanzoni is serving as the VOCA Board liaison to the Big Park Wastewater Improvement District and the Activities Committee. He is a past-president of a New York homeowners association. Lanzoni holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from upstate New York and worked as an educator and education administrator for thirty three years before retiring to Arizona.

    Dear Editor,
    Thank you for taking the time to notify us of this ballot process. We discovered that we had not received ours and we are now doing what is necessary to remedy that circumstance.

    what a waste of time voting in any sedona election because nobody ever wins – now they want to take away our sedona address in the village and redistrict us – maybe i should be selling my house like a neighbor in our area – she’s moving up to west sedona before her house loses any more value

    Elected for a three (3) year Term: Gregory S. Lanzoni with 545 votes and Duane DePaepe with 540 votes. Elected for a Two (2) year Term: Arthur Levin with 521 votes.
