Verde Valley 2011 Pink Heals Success Story

Sedona AZ (August 11, 2011) – Hello all!

The Guardians of the Ribbon and their Pink Heals fire trucks rolled into the Verde Valley on Friday, August 5 2011, and left Sunday, August 7. While here, they helped the communities of Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Cornville and Jerome raise over $7,000 for the Pink Heals Foundation for the women in the Verde Valley facing cancer and its effects.

The three-day event started at the Cottonwood Fire Station with music, food, a raffle, games and lots of Pink.  Saturday morning, a walk sponsored by Team Native Spirit kicked off a fun event in Camp Verde, with food, a raffle and games in Community Park. The Pink trucks then moved to Windmill Park in Cornville. Music was provided by the Cornville Switchbacks, and there was also food, raffles, and face painting. Sunday morning the Pink Trucks were in Jerome before heading home. Everyone who attended each of these events had a great time.

The Verde Valley Pink Heals Committee would like to thank all those who participated with their time, their donations and their support.  We certainly don’t want to leave anyone out but because there were so many groups, businesses, restaurants, and volunteers from each community that made these events possible, we couldn’t begin to list them all.

There are a number of people we need to thank, including Food City, for helping us get banners for each event, selling our T-shirts, and supplying water. And, we thank a group of very talented ladies who gave their time and their money, the “Caring Creations for the Cause” group. They made beautiful jewelry and sold it at each event then donated 100% of the proceeds to the cause. Groups and people like these made this event so successful.

In the communities of Clarkdale, Montezuma-Rimrock, Cottonwood and Jerome there are already plans in the works for next year. I will send updates as things happen.

Whether you are eighteen or eighty, I encourage you to have the courage to find the magic in this day. Go out of your way to appreciate the deserving things before you: people who matter, places that will inevitably change and circumstances that get rearranged all too easily. Remember that there’s more to appreciate in this moment than we realize. Believe me: Years from now, the truth of this will shine. And one of your sincere regrets will be not knowing how good you had it…at the time. Anonymous

  1. Town of Jerome 2012 Request says:

Would anyone be interested in selling two T-shirts for this year’s Pink Heals event? If you would like to buy one, they cost $15 per shirt.

Please let me know if you are interested either way.

    Thank you.
