Verde Food Council Opens Sedona Office

Sedona AZ (April 2, 2012) – The Verde Food Council opened a new operations office on April 1, 2012 in Sedona, Arizona. The Church of the Red Rocks on Bowstring Drive south of the Sedona city limits donated office space for three afternoons weekly, Monday through Wednesday. The Sedona office will be staffed from 1 PM until 4 PM.

Information will be available on the growing condition of hunger throughout Verde Valley communities. The Verde Food Council says that one in four Verde Valley adults cannot afford enough food to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and one in three children are unsure where their next meal will come.

The Verde Food Council is a collaborative effort of numerous organizations, businesses, local governments, and individuals committed to the goal of “EVERYBODY EATS.” Current programs supported by the Council include community and backyard gardens, school gardens, educational classes, food banks and food serving organizations, weekend backpacks of food for kids, promotion of healthy foods, and work with local farmers and food distribution.

The new Verde Food Council office phone is 928-683-4466. Calls will be returned by volunteers as promptly as possible. The Council email address is info@verdefood.org.

Please note that the Verde Food Council web site is currently under re-construction but available. In the event of a food emergency, call 928-254-8998.
