U.S. Navy Tests Will Kill Thousands of Whales and Dolphins

Dear SedonaEye.com,

According to the U.S. Navy‘s own estimates, the use of high-frequency underwater sound for testing will deafen 15,900 whales and dolphins and kill 1,800 more over the next five years.

Whales and dolphins depend on sound to navigate and live. The Navy is required to include comments from the public on their Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), so your signature and comment on my petition could help stop this naval program and save the lives of these ocean creatures.

My petition says:

Stop the killing of 1,800 whales and dolphins and the deafening of 15,900 more by ceasing the operation of the Navy’s underwater sound system in the Hawaiian Islands, the California and Atlantic Coasts, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Thanks for your help.

Lyndia Storey

Sounds like they just want to provide really good, concert-quality music for the underwater critters. Dethklok would be so proud.

You really believe this stuff?? Thank God that you aren’t in a position to protect our Country. You are as off base as the lunatic Right Wing.

Our petition to stop the Navy from killing 1,800 whales and dolphins and deafening 15,900 more over the next five years now has more than 410,000 signatures, and will be delivered on Tuesday (tomorrow).

I would like to arrive at the Navy offices with 500,000 names of people who are asking for this to change. Can you share my petition and ask your friends and family who have not yet signed to add their names?

Yes, I’ll post on Facebook right now, asking my friends to sign!

I’m not on Facebook, but I’ll share the petition a different way.

Even if you’ve shared already, please share again. Or you can forward the note below to your friends via email.

Thank you a million times over.

Greetings to all lovers of whales and dolphins!

Thank you so much for signing my last petition to send a message to the U.S. Navy to stop harassing and killing our ocean friends! Your effort has made a difference. Now I am asking for your assistance again because the Department of Fisheries gets the final say on this matter.

Please click on the link to add your name to my new petition asking the Depatment of Fisheries to Deny the Navy’s request to kill even more whales, dolphins and other sea creatures (yes, they actually plan to increase the killing dramatically and with your help we can stop this!)

I know that we are all busy, especially during election time, but this is vitality important and the deadline for comments is fast approaching (November 3rd, 2012). Please take a moment to sign and post to Facebook; the cetaceans will be grateful!
