Tuesday Tirade

A distraught soldier grabs a weapon and kills five of his fellow troops in Iraq this week. Has to make one think why are we still there and how got there in the first place.
It was back in March of 2003, six years ago that the Bush administration told America we had to go in because Iraqi President Saddam Hussien had “weapons of mass destruction;” because he was supporting terrorism; and to free the Iraqi people.
Six years and hundreds of thousands of deaths later no one remembers there were no weapons of mass destruction and Saddam hated al Qaida and the Taliban. And the Iraqi people? They live in constant fear and hatred of the U.S. for the horror we brought and maintain in their country. How many lost children, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers to this war, waged against an enemy that did not exist prior to our invasion in a country that now hates us so?
And where there were no terrorists in Iraq before the invasion, it now has become the fertile field for terrorist training and recruitment.
Then we may ask why we went into Afghanistan. A group of Saudi Arabians allegedly under the control of another Saudi Arabian named Osama Bin Laden slam planes into our Twin Towers in New York City and we go to war against the Taliban who had nothing to do with it, under the premise they are hiding Saudi Osama whom we never caught anyway.
Now we are stuck there as well trying oust an enemy that lives for war, in a country where we are also hated for all the innocent women and children we have killed fighting an enemy that was not an enemy before we invaded.
Then we have our Obama, who every day sounds more like his presidential predecessor on how we are going to win our war against terror as he commits more troops to the hopeless battle and forgets his campaign promises.
For those who think Iraq is stabilized and we can now pull our troops out they had better think again. The Iraqi government, police, army and national guard are salivating for us to get out and the factions that have infiltrated our puppet army and government will turn their guns on the perceived “traitors” who sold themselves to the occupiers — and those we went in to replace, will replace the replacements we put in there in the first place.
What a terrible waste of lives, so many of our soldiers, killed, maimed and psychologically ruined for life. So many Iraqis and Afghan people blown to dust, maimed and destroyed. For what? The war just keeps getting bigger.
Ah! But there is one consolation. All those billions in war expenses did fatten wallets here in our country. At least some people profited. God bless the contractors.

Ha Tommy, stick to what you’re good at, reporting local news. Keep your political observations to yourself. Some readers, perhaps most, are rather turned off by worn out, old arguments. Are you this bias on the National topics? How can I trust your observations on local items of interest? Remember, readers and listeners can tune out just as fast as they are attracted when journalist violates our trust. Ask the New York Times, Globe etc. if I am wrong.

Well said Mr. Acosta. People are so stupid believing Obama is some kind of a savior when he is a Trojan Horse. People forget why we got into this war in the first place. Thank you for reminding us.
