Sedona AZ (November 24, 2013) – Motorists traveling on Arizona Interstate 17 south of Camp Verde between 11:30 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. this week will need to plan ahead and allow extra travel time due to overnight construction on the climbing lane project, weather permitting.

Overnight work will require one-hour closures in both AZ I-17 directions on Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26, as crews continue blasting rock cuts along the highway.

During Monday night, crews will close I-17 up to three times, the first closure from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., the second closure between 1:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m., and the third closure between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.

Tuesday night, traffic will be stopped once between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.

Traffic on northbound I-17 will be stopped at SR 169 and southbound I-17 traffic will be stopped at General Crook Trail until the area is reopened.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

No work is scheduled on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (November 27 through November 29, 2013) in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
