Teen Dies in Zip Line Accident

Coconino County Sheriff BadgeSedona AZ (January 26, 2015) – On Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 10:20 in the morning, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call that a 15-year-old young man was injured in a zip line accident at a Forest Lakes community residence. Forest Lakes is situated in lower Coconino County, Arizona.

The Phoenix area teen was participating in a Boy Scout Troop activity when the accident occurred. The boy succumbed to injuries sustained from head trauma.

The victim was transported to the Payson Medical Center where he was subsequently pronounced dead. Coconino County Sheriff’s Detectives and the Gila County Medical Examiner will continue this investigation.

Update: The 15 year boy who died on Saturday, January 24, 2015, as the result of injuries he sustained while using a zip-line at a private residence in the Forest Lakes area is Antonio Flores of Gilbert, AZ. Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives are in the process of contacting and interviewing additional witnesses. At this point in the investigation foul play is not suspected.
