Sedona AZ (April 28, 2014) – The Clerk of the Superior Court in Yavapai County, Sandra “Sandi” Markham passed away unexpectedly overnight. Presiding Judge David L. Mackey broke the news to the Superior Court staff earlier today.

“Sandi joined the Superior Court in Yavapai County in 1985 and served the courts and the local community for nearly 29 years,” said David Mackey, Presiding Judge of the Yavapai County Superior Court. “Sandi was such a vibrant, energetic person with a tremendous zest for life and love of travel and the outdoors. Her sudden passing has left us in a state of shock.”

Sandi was appointed as Clerk of the Superior Court in May 2011 by Governor Janice K. Brewer. Sandi had previously served several Superior Court Judges as a court reporter, including Judges James Sult, Raymond Weaver and Robert Brutinel before Brutinel was appointed to the Supreme Court. Throughout her career, she served on several court committees aimed at improving court processes and service to the public.

“My colleagues on the Supreme Court join me in sending sincere condolences to Sandi’s friends and family,” Justice Robert Brutinel said. “I lost a friend today and she will be missed by many. Sandi and I worked closely together for several years. She was a leader in the courthouse and among court reporters statewide.”

Sandi Markham is survived by her husband, Yavapai County Justice of the Peace and Prescott Magistrate Arthur Markham, and two daughters, Erin and Megan.
