Related posts appear at the end of this notice. Isn’t is unfortunate that the same consideration for bids (RFP’s) wasn’t extended for the Destination Marketing Contract and Visitors Center? Of course what’s a million or so dollars between friends (as long as it doesn’t apply to capitol projects.) It’s just more proof how dysfunctional Sedona City government really is. It isn’t the pollen in the air that’s causing pollutants. It’s local corruption IMO:

@How Sad – Well said and I absolutely 1000% agree with you! Interesting that the city doesn’t act with the same rules straight across the board? Hum.

  6. Just Sayin' says:

    @Sharlett

Hay Sharlett why don’t you post your last name for all of us “city employees” to see that you’re a real person. Or better yet, how about taking your comments to a meeting, stand at the lectern and say your name to prove that Sharlett is a real person.

Ya, I didn’t think so because your name isn’t Sharlett and you’re no different than everyone else on this site.

  7. Wow…

Look how smart Sharlett/julianna/Mary s/and whatever else she uses..

Posting on an injection well topic..

Your hate is spilling over to other places..
    Wow, very good for you

  8. Mary G says:

    West Sedona Resident/ Just Sayin

You have to let your hurt over your loss of Julianna go. You saying she looks like a man just shows how twisted the relationship was. Everyone can see you loved her and how you look for her in every post. You saying everyone is Julianne just shows how damaged by her you were.

Please, seek professional help. You will feel so much better after you stop denying it.

  9. Mary S/julianna

You must be talking about you boyfriend T..
Don’t tell me he couldn’t even stand you anymore

You got to find a new man/women to milk I guess since you lost your job
    Good luck
Try reducing you hate level it may serve you well..

  10. sharlett says:

    @Just Sayin’.

You are amusing, to say the least. At least I use my name while you hide behind the “Just Sayin” veil. What’s your point and where is Your level of credibility without a real name? You wrote – ” for all of us “city employees” .

And then you say: “Ya, I didn’t think so because your name isn’t Sharlett and you’re no different than everyone else on this site” ….can I assume you have just now put yourself into the pot of non-relevant people/comments because YOU don’t use your real name while I continue to use mine?

I am so very tired of trying to state/convince the ass’s (west Sedona resident and the old Tom’s and on and on of those fake names) that I am not Julianna or M.G …or as you prefer to call her: Mary S….or another name, and I don’t even know who “T… ” is. I’ve never been employed by the city (but seems you may be? ) and furthermore, I’ve never been fired by the city – unlike a current council member.

You hide behind west Sedona resident and accuse me of not being forthright with my real name. My mother called me Sharlett….that’s how I know what my name is. Did your Mom lovingly call you west Sedona resident? Hardly think so.

Please leave me alone!!! ………..and take your meds or find a new hobby or simply just GET A GRIP!!!……..Or use YOUR real name.

very simple question to you @west Sedona: if Sharlett said the sky is Blue and the sun comes up every day – how would you respond?

P.S. Mary G continues to rock and brings many smiles to a large portion of us.

  11. Jess Lookin says:

You really have to feel sorry for “West Sedona Resident ” and all her alias. The extreme negativity in her posts and attacks have to reflect the negativity that permeates her entire life. Can you imagine the number of failures she has had with that attitude? How lonely and needy on an elemental level she must be?

Like an abused dog that banks and snarls, with no logic or reason. Her only joy is to anonymously attack others.

Its just really sad. You have to feel sorry for her.

  12. Just Sayin' says:

    @Sharlett

What you fail to grasp for what ever the reason is that going by the name of sharlett means nothing. Even the narrowest of minds would get that. The only true posters on this site are Eddie, Warren and I have always given them the most respect for having the guts to do that. That’s why I said that unless you are willing to post YOUR LAST NAME or stand up at a city hall meeting and state your name as Sharlett, you are no better then I am so stop pounding your chest trying to impress. Oh for your info I ONLY POST BY THIS NAME AND I AM NOT W. SEDONA RESIDENT.

Judging from your twisted posts for all I know sedona resident is another name that you also use just trying to get some much needed attention.

In reality I think that you are DJV who loves to kiss the a-s of EM

  13. Just Prayin' says:

Just Prayin’ for Just Sayin’, West Sedona Resident, Julianna, Sharlett along with the Toms to get a room.
Contribute something to Sedona and get that room in the city limits. We could use the bed tax.

  14. @Just Prayin’ me too!

The City of Sedona offers Sedona Mediation Services (SMS) is a non-profit program sponsored by the City of Sedona to help Sedona operate as a cooperative, collaborative community. Since residents will inevitably disagree about many things, we offer ways to address those disputes respectfully and to resolve practical matters fairly.

We help people who are not communicating, or have reached a communication impasse, to discuss their disagreements and work creatively on conflict resolution, in a safe and comfortable environment, instead of fighting each other and making those problems worse.

Mediation is an informal, confidential meeting with the disputing parties, at which a neutral, trained third-party (a mediator) guides them through the process of discussing their situation and exploring ways to negotiate a mutually acceptable solution. It is a non-adversarial, private, and efficient way of resolving conflict. The mediator remains impartial regarding the issues, while facilitating constructive conversation between the parties.

Sedona Eye site is such a wonderful freedom of conversation and also informed and an informing site allowing all of us to respond to. I applaud the site!!!

I’ve enjoyed reading it, as I’ve stayed silent. Often, I’ve laughed at many of the comments that never deal with facts and instead just work off of fiction or, as I read several months ago, gorilla tactics and I can only translate as Personal Attacks for the benefit of the narrow mined.

I’m really disturbed and dismayed to read all the continuing vitriolic attacks against anyone who does not agree with the nameless posters. Shame on You!

Seems to me that the actual nameless posts are only nasty and personal attacks. How does that benefit your position (nameless) or our community?

As I’ve gone back and read all the posts I do see that the lodging council president seems to take on a coat of colors that I don’t believe his members could possibly agree with. Point is that he and his lodging board took actions without any actions that include their members.

So, I sign off with my real name – SG

and when will the west Sedona and jess and just etc do the same?

  16. A comment posted by Just Sayin’ (3/26 – 11:21 AM) concluded with the following sentence:

“In reality I think that you are DJV who loves to kiss the a-s of EM”

There have been other references made to “DJV” & “EJM” on this web site. Therefore I’m asking the person making inflammatory insinuations to kindly identify the people to whom you are referring. The correct initials for my name, as have been used many times, are “ESM” and not “EJM.”

It occurred to me “DJV” might have been Donna Joy Varney, who, together with her husband, own and operate a local Sedona business. But the comment made by Just Sayin’ also was critical of those that wouldn’t go before City Council and speak up. So that eliminated Mrs. Varney since she has, in fact, gone before the Council in the past and most recently at the Regular Meeting last Tuesday, March 24. She has also made numerous comments on Sedona Eye in addition to submitting letters to the editor using her real name.

The same as I, why would Mrs. Varney use the pseudonym “Sharlett” when neither of us hides behind anonymity? The intensity of the anger being displayed by certain people against someone identified as Sharlett have risen to the point of absurdity. The logical solution, in my opinion, would be to follow the advice of the person (Guess Who?????) and seek an amicable resolution to this personal bantering by making an appointment with the Sedona Mediation Services.

  17. Jess Lookin says:

    Ummm…SG is not a name.

I’m all for name verification. For everyone. If I use my real name and others are allowed to anonymously attack me, that’s not fair.

If others are allowed to use many alias to attack me and make an apparent false dialog, that is even less fair.

    Verified names for everyone please.

  18. Just Sayin' says:

    @ Eddie Maddock

I guess my posting wasn’t clear so allow me to make it completely transparent:

Just because Sharlett says that she’s Sharlett doesn’t anything. By exposing my name as Mary with no last name would it really mean anything to you or would you really believe me? I didn’t think so.

I was trying to praise you and others who use their last names and are very recognizable to most folks. It gives you great credibility and I really respect you for that. So again to Sharlett, give us your real last name or stand at the lectern so I can see you on the TV.

  19. @Just Sayin’

It isn’t to anyone’s benefit to belabor an inane dispute, but are you telling me that “Just Sayin'” is, in fact, your “real” name? It doesn’t make a lick of sense to me to continue finger pointing by anyone who will not abide by their own requests. Maybe calling the kettle black is another way of putting it.

The same as you, I don’t know who Sharlett, Mary S., Jess Lookin’, Tom G., West Sedona Resident and others are and quite honestly it doesn’t matter to me as long as the input they contribute lends valid points for consideration, whether or not I’m in agreement. That’s the true intent of this web site as I see it, an opportunity for active and preferably beneficial exchanges.

To simply use it as a vehicle to sustain old grudges among unidentified people is, quite honestly in my opinion, nothing more than a feeble attempt to divert participation by those who might actually offer thought provoking and varied observations of issues at hand.

Therefore, “Just Sayin’,” are you willing to practice what you preach and stand before the podium at a council meeting, with the TV camera on you, and state your name as “Just Sayin'” for the record?

No need for a written response here. The only creditable answer will be proof of the challenge.

    Respectfully,
    Eddie S. Maddock

  20. Not for nothing Eddie M but you seem to be the ring leader for the kooks on this site… Maybe if you just Reported the facts without your bias or jabs all the time all would be well…..

Furthermore you constant bothering of city workers with your Letters and questions which lead always to conspiracy therorys leads to nothing..

    Just the facts please

  21. Eddie M. says:

But think how fortunate you are, dear West sedona resident, because if you find my input so offensive no one is forcing you to read it.

The inconsistency with which you post your name (selective capitalization) leads me to believe your anger might dictate your rationale, or lack thereof.

Ringleader? You give me far too much credit but thanks anyway.

    Eddie M.

  22. sharlett says:

    @Just Sayin’ –

And just WHY do YOU think I have to stand in front of a camera at a council meeting when you cloche yourself with a fake name and just to make you happy? Cold day in Hell. My name IS Sharlett.

You can’t swing both ways and expect any level of credibility at any level.

How about YOU starting to gain a smidge of credibility by answering who is the seated councilwoman who was fired by the city and just rakes her nails over any chalk board she can find as she dishes all who disagree with her leafiest stances and her angry and disrespectful rhetoric at just about each and every council meeting?

How about Sticking with facts instead of your constant BS deflecting away from same?

How come YOU don’t use a REAL name and hide behind your key board?

Oh, and FYI @West sedona resident – I don’t need a “Ring Leader” to cause me to think clearly as to my searching of and reporting Facts & what is going on with this and previous councils and members.

Think it’s amazing that you attribute to Eddie some stature of being the Pied Piper! Pied Piper did lead the rats to the water….and if Eddie can do that now, she has my vote! It is time to see the rats on this site drop off a cliff.

And – oh by the way – @West sedona resident – How come you also hide behind your keyboard? When are you going to council and speak your Real name of ??? instead of West Sedona resident along side of your pal “Just Sayin” in front of a camera?

  23. Just Sayin' says:

    @Sharlett

We know that Sharlett is your real name because – why?????????

oh ya because you say so.

  24. Post Script says:

    PS to West sedona resident:

    “Tsk, Tsk” and “take care.”

  25. Irrationality is cognition, thinking, talking or acting without inclusion of rationality. It is more specifically described as an action or opinion given through inadequate use of reason, emotional distress, or cognitive deficiency. The term is used, usually pejoratively, to describe thinking and actions that are, or appear to be, less useful, or more illogical than other more rational alternatives.

Irrational behaviors of individuals include taking offense or becoming angry about a situation that has not yet occurred, expressing emotions exaggeratedly (such as crying hysterically), maintaining unrealistic expectations, engaging in irresponsible conduct such as problem intoxication, disorganization, or extravagance, and falling victim to confidence tricks. People with a mental illness like schizophrenia may exhibit irrational paranoia.

These more contemporary “normative conceptions” of what constitutes a manifestation of irrationality are difficult to demonstrate empirically because it is not clear by whose standards we are to judge the behavior rational or irrational. Irrationality, historically speaking, is an outcome of the ancient Greek separation of rationality from emotion and sensuality as the sources of “false” assumptions and statements.

ignore just sayin and west sedona resident ~ remember irrational ~ mental illness. Don’t feed the flame of mental illness.

  28. Thank you, Jack, for the comment you made. It’s on point with the above article which, incidentally, I had nothing to do with writing. The same is true with the other comments except for those clearly identified as being submitted under my own name.

Send it back by mail or take it to the VOCA office at 690 Bell Rock Blvd. Ask for a signed receipt?

Go meet the candidates on April 7 from 4 to 6 PM at the VOCA office on Bell Rock Blvd. Make your voice heard !!!!!

I’m not voting for Kautz or Jansen, they lost my vote with the current fiasco and financial chaos. I will vote for 3 new faces !!!! This isn’t a kingdom and we don’t need kings and queens deciding what our pockets and households do.

    Please vote. Thanks.

A contract with KP Ventures Well Drilling and Pump Company to drill Well No. 2 at the sewer plant is on next Tuesday’s City Council meeting agenda. Amount not to exceed $304,160.74.

The U.S. Geological Survey has backed up what scientists are saying: That the disposal of waste water by injection can induce earthquakes.

  31. The onslaught of seismic activity in Oklahoma and Texas in recent years has captured the attention of the nation.

State scientists say they have uncovered the root cause of the majority of the state’s earthquakes: the oil and gas industry’s disposal of billions of barrels of water underground.

Now, as the public absorbs this information, Oklahoma’s regulatory bodies are keeping a watchful eye on these disposal wells and planning their next moves.

On Tuesday, the Oklahoma Geological Survey (OGS) issued its most strongly worded statement yet linking the oil and gas industry to the state’s earthquakes.

State geologist Richard D. Andrews and state seismologist Austin Holland say the spike in earthquakes — particularly in central and north-central areas of the state — is “very unlikely to represent a naturally occurring process.”

“The primary suspected source of triggered seismicity is not from hydraulic fracturing but from the injection/disposal of water associated with oil and gas production,” the report from the Oklahoma Geological Survey (OGS) reads.

The seismicity rate in Oklahoma is about 600 times greater than it was before 2008, around the time dewatering started in the state….

We had to close 89A through the canyon once this year!! Chamber of Commerce you better get involved and put a stop to the injection wells. Sedona red rocks tourist attractions go to S**T because of your inaction???!!!???!!

  32. JeanJ says:

The U.S. Geological Survey has backed up what scientists are saying: That the disposal of waste water by injection can induce earthquakes.

Only last March the Sedona City Council granted KP Ventures Well Drilling & Pump Co. approval to drill Well No. 2 at the sewer plant. Amount not to exceed $304,160.74. There are around 3 more wells planned for the not too distant future.

BTW, the number of seismic events in Oklahoma now exceeds those in California.

  33. On man made earthquakes:

Inject Liquid Into the Ground: In 1961, the Army decided that the best way to dispose of toxic waste from napalm production (among other things) was to drill a 12,000-foot-deep well in the Rocky Mountains and inject the bad stuff down it into the crust of the Earth. From 1962 to 1966, the Army deposited 165 million gallons of toxic waste into this hole in the Earth. Unfortunately, the injections probably triggered earthquakes in the region, and the Army shut the operation down. As seismologist Dave Wolny explained, “If you are doing deep well injection, you are altering the stress on the underlying rocks and at some point, the stress will be relieved by generating an earthquake.”

Makes sense, so lets do it anyway……….makes me want to hike near delicate limestone deposits and red rocks!!

  34. Warren says:

I was about the only person in Sedona who tried to stop the injection well out at the waste water plant. None of the so-called environmental groups cared. I sent Council copious amounts of material about it including my own experience with the disastrous wells on Maui (where I used to live and where the county government is now facing huge fines). Former Council member Barbara Litrell was the only one one who “got” the issue and voted against. Given the history of Sedona Council it’s hard to say if more public outcry would have changed the outcome. One thing’s for sure though; people get what they don’t care about.
