Sedona AZ (May 12, 2013) – It’s time again for the popular Community Campout at beautiful Sunset Park, 655 Sunset Drive, offered by City of Sedona Parks and Recreation department. Residents and visitors have the opportunity to camp with food provided, planned activities and restrooms nearby, all while surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Sedona. This summer’s campout event takes place on June 7 and 8, 2013, beginning at 5:00 on Friday evening and ending at 10:00 on Saturday morning.

For only $15 per tent, participants can join others for a night of camping under the stars, telescope star viewing, and a group hike in the morning. This event is great for first time campers as well as seasoned campers who want to enjoy camping close to home.

View the stars with available on-site telescopes and enjoy a bonfire roasting s’mores. Two local musicians with guitars and other instruments will entertain everyone with great campfire songs.

Wake early for a continental breakfast sponsored by the Sedona Elks Lodge at 7:00 in the morning followed by an 8:00 a.m. guided 1¼ mile hike on Bandit Trail. Park Rangers will point out the natural, geological, and cultural features along the trail and provide plenty of rest stops and opportunities to ask questions. Hikers must carry water and have proper hiking shoes!
