Sedona Solar Astronomy Workshop

Sedona Arizona (April 8, 2012) – The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation department is pleased to offer a unique experience of viewing the sun and its solar flares through the lens of a telescope. On April 22, 2012 at Posse Grounds Park in west Sedona, J. D. Maddy, President of the Astronomers of the Verde Valley, will guide participants through a daytime astronomy workshop.

Participants will be given the opportunity to view the sun through different telescopes, followed by a mini lecture covering topics related to the sun such as its composition, cycle mythology, and information about the upcoming Annular Solar Eclipse on May 20, 2012. Following the lecture, participants will be given additional time to use the telescopes.
