Sedona AZ (January 30, 2013) – Mark your calendar! The Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley (JCSCC) congregants and families will celebrate the festive Jewish holiday, Purim, on Sunday, February 24, 2013.
Purim celebrations are based upon the biblical Book of Esther, which recounts the story of Queen Esther and how she saved the Jewish people from annihilation. The megilla (story) tells about the planned destruction of the Jews by Haman (the bad guy), and how they were saved by Mordecai (the good guy) and Queen Esther (heroine).
The JCSVV has planned a free and entertaining Purim Megilah Cabaret Musical with more than two dozen American pop standards woven into the script. The Purim program begins at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by a lox and bagel and homemade hamentaschen brunch fundraiser: Brunch tickets are free for children under 12 with Adults $18.00 in advance or $25.00 at the door.
Brunch reservations for friends and family are requested by calling the JCSVV at 928-204-1286 by February 21, 2013. The Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley is unaffiliated with a particular stream of Judaism to welcome all.
