Sedona Political Sign Code Regulations

This article submitted by the City of Sedona AZ

Sedona AZ (May 27, 2014) – With the upcoming 2014 election campaign kicking off, the City of Sedona reminds the community of the political sign code regulations approved by City Council in response to a State Law. In 2011, state legislation mandated that all municipalities allow political signs with size and location limits that dramatically exceeded prevailing Sedona City standards for political signs.

The following highlights some of key aspects of the City of Sedona political sign code regulations:

Voluntary Guidelines:

· It is recommended that no political signs be placed on or about public property or within any public rights-of-way.

· Political signs cannot be erected earlier than 60 days prior to the voting period, and it is recommended that such signs be removed within 5 days after the Election Day.

· It is recommended that only 1 sign be placed per street frontage per lot or parcel for each candidate or measure, and that the size of the sign not exceed 6 square feet in area and 3 feet in height.

Mandatory Regulations:

· Political signs are not allowed within ADOT rights-of-way. However, political signs may be allowed within City of Sedona public rights-of-way.

· Political signs may be placed on private property with property owner’s approval.

· Political signs must be stationary, unlighted and temporary.

· Political signs shall contain the name and telephone number of the candidate or campaign committee contact person responsible for the sign.

· Political signs cannot not exceed 16 square feet in areas zoned for residential use or 32 square feet in all other zoned areas. All political signs shall not exceed 5 feet in height.

· Specific areas within City of Sedona rights-of-way are designated as “political sign free zones” due to predominance of commercial tourism, resort and hotel uses. Please see the code for specific information about locations.

So, basically state law supercedes city ordinances.

“In 2011, state legislation mandated that all municipalities allow political signs with size and location limits that dramatically exceeded prevailing Sedona City standards for political signs.”

This submission from the city is MISINFORMATION. It cites the city regulations that MAY NOT APPLY due to the 2011 State regulations. Regulations that are void should not be cited.

Once again, the city proves it does not work for you, but for the chamber and other tourist interests.

Tony….you are and always have been the purveyor of misinformation be it Sedona Fire, or anything regarding Sedona city government…

You have been on the losing side of every election or debate..

Everything you comment on be it taking pictures of SPD talking to each other, or you comments pertaining to election signs.. Your small minded thinking and idiotic always shine bright…

  3. Tom… you are and always have been a simpleton member of the ignorance village, be it as the village idiot or the town jester.

You have been on the brainless side of every post or comment.

Everything you comment on, be it in response to someone’s comment or an idiotic spontaneous thought that popped through your pea-brain… Your small minded thinking and idiotic sentence structure always shine bright…

  4. Tom Bergen says:

    @Tony Merion

Does your rant really matter, I’m sure that anyone running for Mayor or Council would want to keep political signs to a minimum. This past weekend, there were several political signs for governor displayed in uptown, by mid day today, they were gone. To me, that shows that our city is serious about “Keeping Sedona Beautiful” and political signs in check.

Don’t you have something more important to do, you really need to get a life or better yet, why don’t you go fly your plane.

  5. ahh yes, there’s the Twiddle-Dum to the other Tom’s Twiddle-Dee. What was your point again? Where exactly do you come up with your asinine information?

  6. Tom G says:

BTW Tricking the fools I know your Tony’s girlfriend, yes the one that Can’t Hold a job. The one who got fired from local government, which is pretty hard to do.. Congratulations.. Hey Tom Bergen, Tony Tonish has a plane!!!?? He rants that he is on a fixed income and can barely pay the small amount of taxes he pays..

Always fraudulent information from that man.

  7. There are people that read this site quietly week after week, and don’t respond until finally enough hot air blows through to encourage one to cool things down and bring a grasp back to reality.

@ “the Toms” ….does it get crowded there in your head with all of your personalities and delusions? You’re consistenly ‘challenged’ with your posts. Maybe with all the money you get from your city job you could hire some friends to post on your behalf, or at least edit your comments.

Must be tough to keep anyone around longer than one-nighters though, eh? Cougars on the prowl in Sedona! Beware! You’d best stop now before you become a coyote! (are you looking up what a ‘coyote’ is? I’m pretty sure others will)

I guess we are all a ‘Tony’ or ‘girlfriend’ to you….does paranoia run rampant in your family tree? Maybe you should begin your kids in therapy if they aren’t already…..I’m sure they’ll need it.

I’m going to do my part, and vote NO on home rule. If for no other reason, than the “toms” have given.

    @Tom G @ Tom Bergen

Normally I don’t waste my time responding to idiots, but I have a plane?

Is it a jet? Did I win it in a city contest and a city employee is now notifing me? You can buy a nice used airplane for the $260,000 the city spent on the”splash pad”.

Did the city give me an airplane like they give millions to the Chamber of Commerce and the Sedona Film festival with no strings attached? Is it new? Millions can buy a new airplane.

Tell me, where is this plane and when do I get to see it?

Please, have your facts straight for once.

  9. @Tony Tonsich

    Could this be it?

123 FAA registered Aircraft in Sedona, Arizona:

Aircraft: VAN ARSDALE GUY E BABY GREAT LAKES (Category: Land, Weight: Up to 12,499 Pounds), Engine: CONT MOTOR A&C65 SERIES (65 HP) (Reciprocating)
    N-Number: 14RN , Serial Number: 75-554B, Year manufactured: 1997, Airworthiness Date: 12/08/1997
Registrant (Individual): Anthony M Tonsich, 61 Hillside Dr, Sedona, AZ 86336

  10. Tony Tonsich says:

Damaged in an accident about 3 years ago, sold for $6700, never re registered.I guess it’s still not flying. I only paid $10,000 for it when it was airworthy. Look up Baby Great Lakes, a home built single seat experimental. You think that’s a rich mans plane?

Like all your information, and most government data, old, and incorrect. So, show me my plane.

Even if I owned a plane currently, what does that have to do with the city giving false or misinformation?

I know you love being overpaid for your city job. You would not have to worry if you really provided a service. You are worried, aren’t you.

    Tony Tonish…

My God man, I thought your were on a fixed income.. How petty, all this abundance and you have nothing better to do then take pictures of city workers on lunch break as an example of the waste of your “hard earned tax dollars”..

BTW, looks like you Tonish and your girlfriend are really the ones trying to “Trick The Fools” !!!!

  13. @Tony Tonsich

Well, well…another shining example of how it comes easy for you to lie, distort information, conduct character assassination and stir the pot on things you know very little about. As far as I am concerned, you have NO CREDIBILITY on this site!

  14. Hank says:

To: Tom B and Tom G and Tony in the VOC and all your other fake names – why don’t all you little girly girls just rent a room and hash out all your identities and crap and stop having your hormonal discords in public?

Since you all seem to have forgotten the subject of the above article was political signs rather than political nut cases!

  15. @Hank(Tony T.)

Since you left out Tony Tonsich and all of your fake names, it’s obvious that yours is another fake name for Tony T. Why don’t YOU follow your own suggestion and “just rent a room and hash out all your identities and crap and stop having your hormonal discords in public?” Don’t expect the readers to sit still and put up with your BS in all of the various blogs on this site.

  16. James Poole says:

    agreed @Hank. thank you!

  17. Tom Bergen says:

    @Tony Marian

How about you pretend your HOA is some real organization and open your books and become transparent like the city does. Let’s see where and how you’re spending your HOA funds. After all, you’ve proven to everyone on SedonaEye that the only way to run a government is to do it the Tonsich way. Keep spouting your opinions when you have no shred of a clue of how government works.

I guess it’s easy being a bully out side the home when we know that (name deleted by editor) wears the pants in your family. Whip Whip

  18. Tony Tonsich says:

We have capped our association reserve account so that the annual dues of $100 only need paid every 3 years or so. Seems if you give some people money in an account they need to spend it.

Even with that we had to pay to seal our own streets last year as the City of Sedona refused to look at them as they said they were not due until 2016. Once I started writing the city I did finally get them to do some repairs this year.

Any member of my association can see the budget, and it’s only on page, not over 300 like the City of Sedona, but the city makes a 300 page budget so it is not transparent. Voters take a look for yourself at sedonaaz..gov. You want to see some waste and padding in a budget, please take a look for yourself.

Everyone knows how a government works. If a politician is moving his lips he is lying. They spend every cent they have, so they can ask for more next year.

If they put something in writing, they tell half truths. Like when they say state sign rules exceed the city rules but give the city rules anyway.

I’m glad I have you city employees running scared. You NEVER refute what I have to say with facts, only personal attacks. You have probably brought more votes to my side than what I have written.

Voters, Please vote NO on Alternative expenditure limitation/home rule. Using the most conservative city estimates, the city spends about 30% MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM the State of Arizona says a city our size should spend.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant. We need more light on OUR city goverment. It does not belong to OUR employees. Even if they think they are better than us and deserve six figure salaries and a month paid vacation/leave the first year of employment.

    Oh, I FINALLY GET IT!

    OK everyone, let me take a stab at this;

After bringing up years of past postings from you and your many alias’ such as Richard Saunders and so many others: it looks like around 3 years ago when your girl friend lost her job which ended her career, you lost your precious toy, your plane and I’m guessing had to sell it because there was no income money to repair it and we all know that you don’t work. Right after that, you had nothing better to do than start your wage a vendetta against our local governments. How’s that Marian, am I getting close??????

Oh BTW, I haven’t forgotten the subject of this article. I know exactly what the topic is.

  20. Get Real says:

Your the one that needs employment since you cant seem to keep the one you had with government> As i said before, it aint easy to lose a government job but you found a way. Once again congratulations for that.

I dont need a job, i managed to KEEP my back east for many many years and was able to retire.

My property taxes back East were upwards of 9k plus and here there only 1600$. So stop your bitching, moaning, and complaining!

Time for you to GET REAL, put you camera away and go get one of those jobs you mentioned, or has your past firing from your job got you so jaded that you hate everyone thats gets off there ass and actually has a job!

Don’t you just love people who say how bad and expensive it was where they came from and then try to make Sedona just like it? If you liked where you came from so much, please GO BACK.

I moved here for quiet and stars. Some people want more tourists and streetlights. Not me.

The kicker is , most of these people don’t even live in the city of Sedona.

  23. Sedona Sam says:

Thank you Sedona Eye for giving us a voice and keeping us up to date on everything. My family really appreciates it. Thank you.

Just an FYI for those of you using this site for personal issues. The more you type the clearer your real identity is. You are placing yourself at risk, with all the posts. I am embarrassed for you. Since you all have each others emails it would be in your best interest to take the personal issues there. Sincerely from someone that cares.

I love the information I learn from Sedona Eye. I look forward to reading Sedona Eye. The post on Sedona Political Sign Code Regulations was well written. Thank you for submitting it, the City of Sedona! It helps us residents.

Very happy the smoke cleared out some today. Hope everyone is having a great day!

  24. Tom Longo says:

    @Tony Tonsich,

I have a better idea…why don’t YOU go back to where you came from since YOU don’t like it here. But isn’t the REAL reason why you are ranting and raving against the City and Chamber is to get even with a particular member of the City staff, due to something that happened when your girlfriend was terminated at the Sedona Fire District a while back? This is definitely NOT the place to wage your personal vendetta. I suggest that you use different venues and means to deal with your frustrations.

  25. Since everyone seems to be making up names, so shall I; whatever happened to the topic at hand?

Seems the city posted an article here; seems the city acknowledges that the state supercedes city laws regarding political sign posting but the city disregards both the state law and political signs unless it benefits the city.

Seems there are several (or one in the same) that bring nothing other than personal attacks to the table but no other facts or supporting information, as an attempt to divert the reader’s attention from the real issues at hand.

I believe that the real issue is regarding the city budget and its transperancy.

There is a vote coming. Noone can dispute that. I can only hope that the readers who have nothing vested vote fairly and accordingly.

My vote, however, is NO on Alternative Expenditure aka Home Rule.

  26. Tom Bergen says:

    @Tony Marion

Tony, you have really disappointed once again. You had me convinced that you are the only one in this city that knows how to run a government. When I checked to see who the candidates were for Mayor, surprise surprise, your name wasn’t there. I don’t quite know what to say. All of that untapped knowledge gone to waste. I really thought you were going to be the first one at city hall.

  27. Tony Tonsich says:

Funny thing, a few years I heard the city was looking for candidates for city council. I went to the city and was handed a 3 ring binder about 3 inches thick of rules and forms to apply for the job. I handed it back to the clerk.

If you want change, write in the names of the people on the ballot who wrote arguments against the Alternative expenditure limitation/home rule for the comming election. I’m real, and I wrote an argument for the ballot.

Vote in the other people first, I really don’t want the job.

  28. Sedona Sam says:

Not sure I understand @Peter Paul and Mary. Can you explain the city law versus state law?

  29. I too, checked the candidates for Mayor, and guess what other surprises there were. No “Tom Bergen” on the ballot. No “Tom Bergen” in Sedona other than the “Tom Bergen”, commenter, on SedonaEye. You seem to bash an awful lot on those people who you can find information on due to the fact that it is their real persona they are projecting. You and the other Toms don’t present much, or anything, in the way of information countering that information about the city and its budget.

You do, however, seem to cause a lot of distraction with your finger pointing, personal attacks and libelous slurs that say alot more about you, than it does about those you are attacking. And where in the question of libel, comes into play a slippery slope.

Now, I’m sure to you, as you’ve stated in the past, we are all “Tony” or “girlfriend”. I see a lot of accusations regarding that, but rest assured not all of us commenting are.

The focus seemed to drift from the main jist of this article, as it has likewise done on many other articles. There is a vote approaching regarding several topics, and the best way to prepare for a vote is to information gather and be able to make an informed decision. Regardless of the smut-pedaling, smear-campaigning, and trash talking, when the time comes to submit your ballot, do so with an educated vote. We are in a day and age where we are not limited to information.

Go forth and learn so as to best prepare to vote.

  30. Randy Koch says:

Tom Bergen should change her name. Whenever I see it I jusy scroll down. Never enough info to waste my time reading it. Only baseless attacks.

Yes on disincorporation. NO on Home Rule. We need to post flyers all over town so the uninformed voter gets the message.

  31. Hank says:

Please stay focused on a NO Vote on Home Rule or new name of Alternative Expenditure aka Home Rule.

To who ever is: Fed up with you: seems you are one of the lame ass ducks and shoot off the hip with blinders on! I am no one other than Hank – so buddy get over your self professed be all one of knowledge…you, quite frankly don’t know jack…..even as you just rail in the wind!!! pretty pathetic.

Please stop fueling the twisted twins of the Tom’s and all their suppositions and dark theories of who is what and just for the record……I’m just Hank and no one else…..I’m just Hank and am just tired of two or three or 4 little boys or girls who only care about their egos to such a much larger degree than the actual benefit of our little town. You people are just cow dung!

leave the rest of us alone and either pool your money for your own site or room or what ever – but find a room to do your crazy stuff on your on time and leave the rest of us out of your lack of meds time frames.

throwing caution to the winds? I believe a current council member is playing a tight walk game and she needs to stop it.

  32. Tom G says:

    Very nice speech Hank….

But you know what, just like you and others enjoy spreading BS, misinformation, pointing fingers at others… I also have a right to shine the light on others fraudulent posts , behavior and ulterior motives..

    Not going anywhere Hank..

Besides all of the angry fueled rants are coming from the other end..

  33. @ Tony

I must say, you really don’t realize what you are saying.

“Funny thing, a few years I heard the city was looking for candidates for city council. I went to the city and was handed a 3 ring binder about 3 inches thick of rules and forms to apply for the job. I handed it back to the clerk.”

To me this explains a lot; I take this to mean that when you were handed the binder you realized that you would have to adhere to the rules or strict state laws, so you gave it back. I’m glad you did that because I wouldn’t want someone on the city council who couldn’t follow rules.

It also explains that you are a hypocrite.

  34. @Hank

NOT supporting Alternative Expenditure aka Home Rule makes no sense at all. By having Home Rule it allows the sales tax to be used to cover our property tax. So instead of the home owners having to pay a city property tax, the tax is shared by 3.5 million tourists and any one else who shops in Sedona. Sales tax vs. Property tax sounds like a much better deal. We get to say and enjoy what our tax pays for and the tourist get to go home knowing that they have supported the residents in this beautiful town. Where’s the down side of that?????

I think that it may be an even better idea to allow big box stores or car dealerships to build in Sedona so we can raise even more money with big ticket items and faster sales. Just think what we could do with the extra money. Because of Home Rule, we would get to decide how our taxes are spent instead of the County limiting us. Again, where’s the down side???

  35. Tony Tonsich says:

Like all government employees, you think you know better than the taxpayers how to spent THEIR OWN MONEY.

If you want less of something, tax it.

Maybe having a few employees to make up more rules and make life more difficult for those that actually produce somethign of value.

Instead of a non existant property tax, by saying NO to the Alternative expenditure limitation /home rule it would tend to force the city to not pay six figure salaries, not give MILLIONS to the Chamber of Commerce, the Sedona Film festival and others. It may allow the city to actually LOWER the sewer fees not raise them.

In what world is ANYONE happy to pay more tax? Maybe in the city employees fantasy land, but then only if they live outside of the city. If tax was such a popular subject, I think the city would be happy to allow as many signs as possible to promote it. It seems the city wants to limit signs and will promote disinformation to achieve their goals.

You keep telling your fairy tales on how happy tourists are to pay the high Sedona taxes. Keep telling the people who actually live in Sedona how happy they should be in bumper to bumper traffic.

    We know better.

Voters, tell your friends, Vote NO on the Alternative expenditure limitation/ home rule.

  36. Jim uptown says:

Never thought it would happen but I agree with Food for Thought and “big box stores and car dealerships.” Isn’t that why Cottonwood with a population of only 1,500 more than Sedona has so much more tax revenue?

Let’s face it. With the grandiose plans Mayor Adams and this council has for the “wet lands” and the Cultural Park property, none of it as far as I know has anything to do with raising Sedona’s tax base except the nonsense that more tourists will come and spend more money. (Ha, more tourists equals more traffic jams.) A really huge shopping mall would mean we residents wouldn’t have to waste gas travelling to Cottonwood. Good idea.

As for the threat that if Home Rule isn’t approved we will have property tax, HOG WASH and shame for being so desperate to defend your cause. All state imposed restrictions would do is force City Hall to pull in the reins on spending for non-essentials like Splash Pads, land for more parks and related improvements, and thousands of $$$ of give-away tax money to alleged non-profits, including the Chamber of Commerce. Your desperation is showing.

  37. Alex says:

Supporting Home Rule equals NO RULES. I voting NO. I want to see change in Sedona. I would like to see bullet point reasons for voting NO. I will start. Then anyone join in. We can get the public EDUCATED.

    * Sedona was better off without “home Rule”
    * Sedona debt has gone up. Each citizen debt has increased under home rule
    * Money is being diverted to special interest groups and private businesses.
    * City Council is only listening to special interest groups and not the citizens.
    * They are NOT accounting for the dollars They are using dollars for NON city events and items
    * Transparency is not being used, spending is hidden in the current format
    * Wastewater rates are the highest in state, sales tax was suppose to help with the cost burden
    * Splash Pad was a environmental and financial mistake. Drought, not reusing water, cost to maintain, water usage
    * City council just wants to spend every penny they can. It not about Sedona but their personal agendas
    * Scare tactics that your roads – maintenance will cease

Come on please add on. Let get this list rolling!

  38. Tom Bergen says:

    @ James Garfield

I’m sorry, have you ever seen me stand on a soap box and tell everyone on SeonaEye that I can do everything better? My days of running for anything more than dog catcher long past. Been there, done that!

It’s Tony Marion who thinks that he knows best about how to run everything including his HOA and now it seems that he only likes to run things as long as he doesn’t have to follow any state laws or rules.

As for showing facts and proving my points, I DON’T HAVE TO every time Marion steps on his soap box and spews, we all know he’s full of do do.

  39. Seriously? Did I just read that?

    …..

“it may be an even better idea to allow big box stores or car dealerships to build in Sedona”

    …..

Do you realize where you are @ Food for Thought?

I can’t believe that anyone actually thinks that.

Whoever you may be, whatever you may do day in and day out, whatever your ultimatum, I am appalled and disgusted that that actually was written and posted and requested for Sedona’s future. My only hope is that you do not work in any position of “power” to persuade or invoke such a deplorable act to occur to the confines of Sedona and therefore mar its natural beauty with that of glowing florescent bulbs and tacky 24-7 “box stores.” Who comes to visit Sedona for the “big box stores or car dealerships” available? Already the view of the stars has been diminished by the street lights. Do you desire “smut-peddlers” and “street-walkers” as well?

If you want the “convenience” of what the “big box stores or car dealerships” offer, you should move to Phoenix, Scottsdale, Vegas, L.A. or, take a left, and go to Albuquerque. That sure as (*insert expletive here*) isn’t what I moved my family to Sedona for.

San Francisco, which could claim to be a “big-city”, doesn’t include or allow “big box stores or car dealerships to build.” It recognizes and respects what it is, and where its roots are. I hope the same can be said for Sedona.

You should not impose, (or speak for the masses), of those exploitable expectations as a result of extremely avoidable economical shortcomings. If reductions and cutbacks were made to the excessive indulgences that run rampant, the City of Sedona would not require such an inflated budget and therefore would not require such over the top collections for a city of this size and therefore, would not rip-off the year round citizens that call Sedona “home,” or the migratory or transient population that passes through.

If the budget wasn’t so exorbitant with exclusiveness and excessive spending, a lot could be cut, and reigned in to a more reasonable level for a city of 10,000 residents. Any surplus of spending that tourists supply, would allow for the local businesses to thrive and keep more money circulating throughout Sedona and the surrounding areas, without pinching off the locals.

I guarantee that those that are “just passing through” will, in the future, “pass through” other areas after getting a taste of the over inflated taxes and the “big box stores” that are desired. No one will come back to Sedona after getting a taste of the taxes, and cruddy traffic the first time. Seems to be a really crappy business strategy if the platform is to “screw-’em the first time, who cares if they return.”

Maybe I’ve used too big of words here. Maybe I need to “dumb-it-down” for the “average-American” ….

I’m voting NO on Alternative Expenditure Limitation (oops too big of words again) …aka… Home Rule.

I only hope there are enough others of equal intelligence to agree along with me.

  40. @Disgusted and appalled

Not to worry, I read on the internet that some mega Benz dealership is looking at the Kings Ransom / Elote property for a mega Auto Mall. But don’t worry, it will only affect those on Canyon Dr as they may experience some traffic delays getting onto Rt 179.

This is a great project for Sedona, with the added sales tax anticipated from that one dealership, we could work on those traffic delays along Rt 179 by building a light rail system that will be able to travel through the whole city stopping in the area of every group of stores and then head north to the Grand Canyon. If no one likes the light rail idea, in a few years, we’ll have enough money to pave Schnebly Hill all the way to Flag. What great ideas.

If we don’t have a Home Rule, all of that sales tax money plus the money from those 3.5 million tourists will sit in the coffers until the next vote.

    Vote YES on Home Rule!

    is that you DviousMistress?

@ Food for Thought — Wow, what great ideas! Lets get rid of those pesky, old fashioned height restrictions too. Then we can have high rises, maybe even a sky scraper or two. Think of how much money those would generate for developers, real estate agents, construction workers, as well as in taxes — just a “win, win” for everybody.

  42. Tony Tonsich says:

One thing a government worker would never consider is paying off debt or LOWERING taxes, how boring. City and government only thinks how all money we have must be spent, then we can ask for more.

Please vote NO on Alternative expenditure limitation/home rule.

  43. Sharlett says:

@Food for Thought…… Oh YES you really need to become more engaged on a real and educated basis vs your limited basis and contrary to your narrow vision – Your NOT supporting the Alternative Expenditure aka Home Rule makes perfect sense….as you just want every thing paid for you…. there is Zero connection between that and Sedona having property taxes…I call that concept dumber ….the let me just get the dole…before I really have to get a real job…etc.

The post you made certainly indicates you have zero clue as to how the financial system really works (On State and Local basis) and you, too easily, BUY into the scare tactics being spewed, with out accuracy:

FALSE #1) IF home rule fails we Will have local property taxes……….nothing could be further from the truth!!! THERE IS NO CONNECT TO PROPERTY TAXES AND HOME RULE.

TRUE #2) IF HOME RULE FAILS: then the city staff and Council will have to do a knife cut on many budgetary line items that just don’t hold up to the smell test of Health Safety and Welfare that council is charged with doing.

Call me crazy but how smart is this city and council to push through the Water Slide Park in a time when we are in the worst drought and other communities are setting limits on water usages? …when we keep giving money to the chamber and all Missy Jennifer dreams of And she has zero proof of profit or loss.

When HOME RULE FAILS it means our stellar council will have to treat the city budget just like they would their own personal checkbook………….opps – a new concept!

When HOME RULE FAILS or as they now call it “Alternative spending” it means that this crazy ass council and mayor will just have to spend inside their actual budget instead of outside the box and put us in more debt….

Sales tax has Never been an in lieu of Property taxes. get a grip ….who ever you are!

@Disgusted and appalled – you are really someone of zero ability to educate yourself with both sides and read to the bottom line and get the facts straight.

So, you show no actual knowledge of reading up on the Home Rule issues!

Simple Math is a pretty easy concept: 2 + 2 = 4. We can all agree on that – right?

Lets move to the next level of simple Math: City revenue in and revenues spent for Health, Safety and Welfare are the basic requirements….right? Lets transfer that concept to your personal finances…. If Home Rule ( which simply states that all your earnings are all you have to spend) is the level of expenditure = Woozier…..unless you, real person, go to the bank and borrow money you are stuck with just your revenue in – right? Or unless you stop charging on your credited cards with a later payback……..bottom line is greedy vs conservative and protective of our community.

Since we are surrounded by thousands of acres of USFS lands (typically called Public Lands) that run along both sides of Oak Creek and there are a slew of camping and etc. sites………could someone (Rob Adams) please explain why the City needs a Creek Walk ?

Yet as a result of this council and all their wants and wishes and bird and splash and creek Parks…we need to pass Home Rule or the “Alternative Spending” issue on our August ballots? BS in a big way!!!!!

And,@Disgusted and appalled, etc. – there is no humor in your posts…just a total lack of understanding of the system….by a person who believes in government paying for Everything by the choices of uneducated and special interest council members!

When you write ” DviousMistress?” you displayed a less than respectful stance and just combined yourself with all the other nuts.

If I was your “DviousMistress” – believe me pillow talk would have educated you! and I would just throw up!

Now I’ve never been the smartest rock in the box but you sure don’t have to “dumb-it down” for me or the average American when it comes to Home Rule. It just makes plan sense. In my personal life I was taught to save and only buy what I could afford. Own my house and car and have everything I need and don’t owe anyone a penny. Now since the city of Sedona doesn’t see it the same way it looks like we residents are going to have to take charge by voting “No” on Home Rule, so they will stop throwing money around like they have it and getting us all into deeper debt.

You all may be happy that Mayor Adams is moving along and hopefully taking his wish list with him but I want to point out another thing. If that Sandy lady becomes mayor your going to see some Big give aways to all his friends and hers, Sedona will be in for some major changes that I don’t think none of us want to see. Keep an eye on those fellas running for council this next time and choose the ones that will be responsible to us. And for gods sake get up off your back sides and vote.
