Sedona Parks and Recreation Offers Photo Hunt and Hikes

Recreation Room, Posse Grounds Park

Sedona AZ (May 2, 2011) – The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department is offering a free photo hunt and hike program for children to encourage enjoyment of local parks. Each Photo Hunt and Hike event is an hour-long adventure for children ages 6-12 years old at the Posse Grounds Park in west Sedona and Jordan Historical Park in uptown Sedona.

Parents are encouraged to participate. The program is open to residents and visitors.

A Park Ranger will guide participants while they search for a given list of items. Each child will learn about and photograph all items on the Park Rangers hike and photo list in order to complete an individual field journal.

Each journalist must bring his or her own camera to use.

After successfully photographing all of the items, the children will develop their pictures and create an adventure field journal to take home. Sedona Photo Hunt and Hike outdoor events are scheduled to be held on four dates in 2011: May 14, June 11, July 9 and August 13, the second Saturday of each month.

Mark your calendars and reserve your space today. There is no fee to participate in the Sedona Parks and Recreation Photo Hunt and Hike but there is a class maximum of 15 children. Call the Sedona Parks and Recreation office at 928-282-7098 about this and other Park and Recreation events and visit www.SedonaAz.gov/Parks and visit the SedonaEye.com Calendar of Events daily.
