Sedona Parks and Rec Community Campout June 4

Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer this unique first time event for our
community on Friday, June 4 at 6:00 p.m.  For only $15 per tent, you will be
allowed to camp at beautiful Sunset Park!  Join us for a night of camping under
the stars, informative lectures, telescope star viewing, and a guided hike.
This event is great for first time campers as well as seasoned campers that want
to enjoy camping close to home and learning about camping safety.

So much is included in the small $15 registration fee.  Set up your tent at 6:00
p.m. and get ready for the informative lectures from the Forest Service
beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Al Cornell will provide information on Wilderness
Survival followed by Will Hill teaching about the “Leave No Trace Ethics” of
camping.  When the stars come out, JD Maddy, President of Astronomers of the
Verde Valley, will be on site with telescopes for you to use!  Join other
campers around the bonfire and enjoy roasting some s’mores provided by Parks and
Recreation.

Wake early for a continental breakfast and a guided hike on Carroll Canyon Trail
at 7:30 a.m.  This might be your only chance to camp in a City park, so don’t
miss out.  Our local Thrifty Mountain $upply store is donating sleeping bags and
sleeping pads for this event.  Supplies are limited, so early registration is a
plus.  This event has a minimum registration of 10 registered tents in order for
the event to be held.  The registration deadline is Friday, May 28, 2010.
Please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 282-7098 or 102 Roadrunner
Drive at Sedona City Hall to register for this event.
