Sedona Parks and Recreation Art Classes

Sedona AZ (February 9, 2012) – The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation is offering two unique and creative workshops on faux painting. During these hands-on classes,  you will be guided through the beginning skills that will allow the creation of mouth-dropping painted walls.

The Classic, Tuscan and Metallics workshop teaches a faster, easier way to use paint to replicate Old World, stone-like walls, and classic looks for a traditional theme. Learn how to add “bling” from metallics. The second workshop Suede, Rustic and Modern will teach easier, faster ways to achieve a soft blend of colors on walls without the mess of ragging. By using a special wool roller and glaze, students can turn walls into leather. Learn how metallic, stripes and “dry brushing” can change ordinary looks into GREAT. Bring a paint shirt!

The Classic, Tuscan and Metallics workshop is scheduled for Monday, February 20, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Recreation Room, Posse Grounds Park. Registration must be paid in advance through Parks and Recreation, 102 Roadrunner Drive, Sedona City Hall or by calling 928-282-7098. This workshop fee is $25 per person, with an additional $29 supplies fee collected the day of the workshop.

The Suede, Rustic and Modern workshop is Monday, February 27, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sedona Teen Center, Posse Grounds Park. Registration must be paid in advance through Sedona Parks and Recreation, 102 Roadrunner Drive, west Sedona or by calling 928-282-7098. This workshop fee is $25 per person, with an additional $29 supplies fee collected the first day of the workshop.

Parks and Recreation is excited to offer the public a wide variety of classes. With community support, we will continue to offer unique workshops in the future. For more information on upcoming Parks and Recreation events and classes, visit the City of Sedona website at www.SedonaAz.gov/Parks.

I’m about to say something needing to be said. We all mutter about it privately at meetings. The time has come to let it out. It’s an election year.

Artists aren’t appreciated in Sedona unless they pay the pipers that rule the brushes and paints and bow to the city cultural commission awards/grantkeepers.

The art barn forum was farsical. Do you really think politicians give a hoot about artists? They are all pro developers and big business Republicans and we small potatoes aren’t worth their time of day.

But go ahead and vote for them anyway Sheep One and Sheep Two and Sheep Three…as for me I’m throwing my ballot in the trash. They deserve to be elected by a smallest number of votes possible.

I’ve said this for the mutterers and if you don’t want to comment that’s fine. The point ‘s made.
